What does "mobile" mean?
• Can access the Internet from anywhere
• Can connect to almost anyone anywhere
• Can store information in the cloud
Mobile means the classroom changed
Students can look up answers from anywhere
If they can't google it, they can text their friends/experts
Now the "test banks" that were in the basement of the Greek house might be available to everyone
What would you like to hear?
Do you want to hear about tools for YOU?
Or tools for you to interact with your students in the classroom?
Or something else?
To start: how many of you have a handheld Internet-capable device? (smartphone, iPad, etc.)
Connecting with students
Some teachers are using mobile tools to provide richer discussion options

Location aware - Foursquare
The smartphone knows where it is.
When you are in a place, you can use an app like Foursquare to "check in" and then friends (and maybe anybody) can see you have been there.
You can also leave notes - "try the chicken salad"
Location aware - Augmented Reality
The smart phone knows where it is.
With an "augmented reality" program, you might be able to hold a "virtual bear" in this room, and pet a virtual dog in another room.
Or you might get a store coupon ONLY if you used your smartphone at a sister store.
QR Codes - smartphones can quick-connect
If you use a free app on your smart phone like RedLaser for iOS or (?) for Android,
you can click on this and it will take you to a web site, (or put a date on your calendar orstart playing a YouTube video)

Art
Many museums have apps or mobile-friendly websites.
This "Heritage" is a UNESCO project showing World Heritage Sites with pictures from individuals.
