Description:
InterShelter ™ Dome is a patented revolutionary portable shelter, made of high‐tech aerospace composite material, and cutting edge HD Plastic. This unique product has bridged the gap from tents and trailers to traditionally built framed houses. These units are built to sustain hurricane strength winds or earthquakes. Insulated to stay warm in the most extreme arctic sub‐zero degree weather to keep it a perfect 72 degrees in the deserts of Afghanistan. Assembled in just a few hours by three untrained people, these amazing units are sturdy and reliable to the point they are approved by FEMA and the US Military. Unlike traditional tents or mobile structures, these units can be effectively sealed to provide a closed loop atmosphere with biological / HEPA filtration for both incoming and outgoing air. Lightweight and mobile enough to fit in the back of a pick‐up truck, these units have also been flown in by helicopter using a single sling. In Alaska, these units have been moved using bush cargo planes. Ideal for research facilities, quarantine shelters and emergency relief situations. These shelters are approved for and work extremely well as a homeless communities or farm labor housing. Approved by the State of California for “Tent City” applications and the State of Washington for farm labor housing. Able to be set up in almost any terrain, these InterShelter™ Domes are revolutionary structures fitting almost every portable housing requirement.

YEAR: 1993

GRANT: $250,000 grant from the Arco Corp.

OBJECTIVE: Solving some of the pressing housing problems for the homeless

OUTCOME: November 5, 1993 Dome Village (originally known as Genesis One) opened it’s doors for the homeless in Los Angeles, California.

EXISTENCE: Dome Village existed for over 11 years.

SUCCESS: Dome Village was the launch pad for many so called lost homeless people to re-enter the community.

ATTENTION: The successes had been attracting attention both nationally and internationally with visits from HRH Prince Edward of England, The Prince of Wales Business Leaders Forum as well as government and business dignitaries from various parts of the world.

How it all started

Page 5: Intershelter Ppt

The Dome Village sponsored programs have the following goals:

Engage the residents of Dome Village in productive, industrious and responsible activities right where they live.

Provide access to information and resources to assist the client's transition out of homelessness.

Create jobs and incentives for village residents which can provide them with an opportunity to earn extra income, increase their self-esteem and work ethic, and to better their immediate community.

Teach the residents valuable skills and technologies they can utilize to help them return to mainstream society. Skills may also be used to help residents manage, facilitate and improve the Dome Village and assist in the creation of future homeless communities.

Develop micro-enterprises and generate income to help support the

community, as well as to provide residents with an opportunity to

develop marketing, sales and leadership skills and improve their

ability to work cooperatively, while assuming individual

responsibilities.

Clean and beautify the local neighborhood by regularly removing

trash, debris, weeds and graffiti from the surrounding area; improve

the aesthetics and atmosphere of the area by creating a park-and-

garden setting at Dome Village for residents, neighbors and other

visitors to enjoy while at the same time instilling a sense of

appreciation for a clean and green environment.

Facts at a glance

• Solar Powered

• Environmentally friendly

• Affordable and cost effective

• Able to Produce Potable Water

• FEMA Approved for Emergency Shelters

• State Approved for use as Homeless Shelters

• Earthquake resistance—the panels flex instead of breaking.

• OSHA Approved for the Agriculture Industry for worker housing.

• Water resistance—the panels can be completely sealed from the ground up.

• Portability—the Enviro- Dome can be easily disassembled and relocated to a new site.

• Quick construction—an Enviro- Dome can be erected in two or three hours by two or three untrained people.

• The structural strength—the curved surface of the panels reduces wind resistance, enabling the structure to withstand

straight-line winds of 200 miles per hour or more.

Military Mobile Support

Structures (MMoSS)The MMoSS will render the tent, a structure used in military campaigns for over 2000 years, obsolete. Our soldiers have decisive victories

but lack short / medium term storage, medical and housing infrastructure without massive building and logistic support. With MMoSS,

each semi truck trailer can hold 8 MMoSS units providing ballistic and environmental protection to 32 soldiers (3 squads). The MMoSS unit

can withstand 6 direct hits with a .44 caliber round without penetration, thereby exceeding the Class 3 ballistic armor requirements.

Additional protection is available as an option up to 7.62 NATO.

The natural spherical shape increases MMoSS survivability as projectiles will always impact a curved surface thereby causing an indirect impact

and expending the kinetic energy prior to entry.

In addition to storage and housing of troops, the MMoSS is ideal for Medical Services in both conventional and biological conflicts.

Combined with the ballistic protection, the MMoSS units can easily be sealed environmentally and can utilize positive pressure HVAC

systems with HEPA and Carbon scrubbing filters to ensure airborne contaminants are kept external to the structure.

MMoSS lends itself extremely well to triage and isolation requirements within the trauma units.

They provide a secure, environmentally sealed structure whereas isolation or triage services can be accomplished closer to the battlelines

with much more protection than the current fabric based systems in use today. Providing protection and stabilization as soon as possible

is what MMoSS does the best.
