Intertextuality

Page 2: Intertextuality

Adulthood is the sequel of Kidulthood which is intertextuality. The front cover of the poster is the same layout, the characters are situated in front of a wall with a dull silhouette of the buildings in the background. Above the titles on each of the posters is a small caption which also shows a link e.g. before ‘Adulthood comes Kiduthood’ and the other says ‘after Kidulthood comes Adulthood.’ The link between the posters and the DVD cover is that they use the same colour scheme and the pictures used are the same for both.

The clothes which the characters are wearing show to the viewer what genre of film they are expecting to see. In the first film the background is dark which forecasts to the viewer that bad things may happen and then in Adulthood the background is a sunset making the image brighter to show a turn around and how they have changed for the better. The baseball bat is a key symbol throughout the two films so the photographer has decided to include this on both posters.

The website uses the same image as in the front cover and poster but flipped and it still uses the same slogan above the title. In the bottom left a font which looks like graffiti is used this also thinks in with the genre of the film. The website is another way to advertise the film this gives the audience information on when the film is going to be released on DVD. There are menus across the bottom of the website to all the audience to go on different sections to get them intrigued e.g. Competitions and soundtracks which may get the attention of the music's fans also.
