RADIOGRAPHIC EXAMINATION
1. Determine indication andlocation of subject to be
examined
2. Choose the precise type
of radiographic
projection based onpatient and tooth
condition.
3. Produce radiographic
4. Evaluate radiographic
image
5. Interpret radiographic
image
Tentukan indikasi danlokasi subjek untuk
diperiksa
Pilih jenis yang tepat dari
proyeksi radiografiberdasarkan pasien dan
kondisi gigi.
Menghasilkan gambar
radiografi dengan
melakukan proyeksi yang
diinginkan
Evaluasi citra radiografi
Menafsirkan gambar

Radiolucent: refers to high film
density, which appears in a rangefrom dark gray to black. Soft
tissue, air spaces, and pulp tissue,
all of which have low object
density, appear as radiolucentareas on a film
Radiopaque: refers to area with low
film density, which appear in a
range from light gray to white onthe film. Structures with high
object density, such as enamel,
bone and metallic restorations will
appear radiopaque.
Film DensityRadiolusen: mengacu
pada densitas film yang
tinggi, yang muncul
berkisar dari abu-abu
gelap sampai hitam.
Jaringan lunak, ruang
udara, dan jaringan
pulpa, yang semuanya
memiliki kepadatan objek
yang rendah, muncul
sebagai daerah
radiolusen pada film
Radiopak: mengacu pada
daerah dengan densitas
film rendah, yang muncul
berkisar dari abu-abuterang hingga putih pada
film. Struktur dengan
kepadatan objek yang
tinggi, seperti enamel,
tulang dan logam
restorasi akan munculradiopak

Contrast refers to the difference in
film densities between variousregions on a radiograph.
High contrast implies that there is a
pronounced change from the lightto the dark areas of the film. There
are fewer shades of gray, the
predominant densities being either
very light or very dark.
With low contrast, there are many
shades of gray seen on the film, with
less pronounced changes from light
to dark.
ContrastKontras mengacu pada
perbedaan dalam
kepadatan film yang antara
berbagai daerah diradiograf.
Kontras tinggi menyiratkan
bahwa ada perubahan
diucapkan dari cahaya ke
daerah gelap dari film ini.
Ada nuansa sedikit abu-
abu, kepadatan dominan
yang baik sangat terang
atau sangat gelap.
Dengan kontras rendah,
ada banyak nuansa abu-
abu yang terlihat di film,
dengan perubahan kurang
jelas dari terang ke gelap.

Ideal Radiograph
1. The image is the same size as the object
2. The image has the same shape as the
object
3. The image has a sharp outline with good
density and contrast.
Gambar adalah ukuran yang sama
sebagai objek
Gambar memiliki bentuk yang samaseperti objek
Gambar memiliki garis tajam dengan
kepadatan yang baik dan kontras.

The overall density and contrast of the film affects the
diagnostic value of the film. Only the center film below
has the proper density and contrast .The one on the left
is too light and the film on the right is too dark; both ofthese films are non-diagnostic.

Radiographic Interpretation
The main objectives are:1. To identify the presence or absence of
disease
2. To provide information on the nature and
extent of the disease3. To enable the formation of a differential
diagnosis.
Tujuan utama adalah:
Untuk mengidentifikasi ada atau tidaknyapenyakit
Untuk memberikan informasi tentang sifat
dan tingkat penyakit
Untuk mengaktifkan pembentukan diagnosisdiferensial.

Radiographic Interpretation1. Recognize the type of radiography being interpret
2. Recognize the position of patient, film and tube X-ray3. Analyze the quality of radiographic image
4. Recognize the radiographic appearances of normal
anatomical structures (including anatomy variance or
physiologic changes)
5. Recognize the typical patterns and appearances ofdifferent diseases
Kenali jenis radiografi yang menafsirkan
Kenali posisi pasien, film dan tabung X-ray
Menganalisis kualitas gambar radiografi
Kenali penampilan radiografi struktur anatominormal (termasuk anatomi varian atau
perubahan fisiologis)
Kenali pola yang khas dan penampilan
penyakit yang berbeda

Radiographic Interpretation
A systematic description of a
lesion in radiographic image
should include its:
1. Site or anatomical position
2. Size3. Shape
4. Outline/edge or periphery
5. Relative radiodensity and
internal structure6. Effect on adjacent surrounding
structures
7. Time present, if known.
Penjelasan sistematis lesi pada

Outline / tepi atau pinggiranRadiodensity relatif dan
struktur internal
Efek pada struktur sekitarnya
yang berdekatan
Saat ini, jika diketahui.
