For this experiment individual soil samples were collected from both Interlaken and Ovid schools. The experiment was performed and the data was collected and analyzed. The Ovid school’s soil samples will hold more water than Interlaken’s soil samples. The soil experiment failed the first time because it was rushed. In order for the soil experiment to be successful water must be added ten milliliters at a time. Water must be let to sink to the bottom of the test tube. Some things that could improve the experiment more would be to make sure to completely dry the soil out so the results can be more accurate. The scientific results were about the same, the soils from each school can hold about the same amount of water. The Ovid soil could only hold more water by .4 milliliters compared to Interlaken’s. The experiment was very interesting and valuable information was gathered. To start I would like to thank Mrs. Smith for helping me collect my soil samples and my experiment. I would also like to thank J.J. Herrington for helping me with my experiment. Some further questions are what soil sample could hold the most water in Seneca county? What would happen if I collected more samples? Maybe someday I I will be lucky to find out these mysteries.
