Christian FinancesFinances are important for Christians to study.

The way we handle money answers many questions about us:

It is a strong indicator of our attitude toward life.

Financial management indicates our view toward God and toward the world.

Page 4: Introduction to christian finances

4

Are we focused on heavenly and spiritual matters?

Or are we more focused on the world and the things of the world?

Which is more important to you?Your spiritual life, or your carnal life?

Page 5: Introduction to christian finances

5

The truth is revealed by our financial decisions:

How we work -- are you determined to be as productive as you can be?

How we give -- our generosity or lack thereof.

And our attitude about it all.

How we manage -- take care of God’s Provision,

6

Col 3:1-2 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

The right attitude about our finances is to set our affection on living for God;

And trust Him to provide all that we need.

To trust God is to do all things His Way.

I John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

If we love the world and the things of the world,

that fact will be revealed in how we earn, spend, and share our finances.

8

Let God decide how much is enough.

Let God decide how to provide our needs.

Be far more concerned with the spiritual side of your life --

Knowing that God will provide the material needs.

Just love God, worship Him, and obey His word -- all of God’s Word --

And take no thought for the financial results.

Matt 6:31-34 NIV So do not worry, saying, "What shall we eat?" or, "What shall we drink?" or, "What shall we wear?" For the pagans run after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Page 10: Introduction to christian finances

10

You can live today; you can handle whatever one day brings.

Never borrow trouble from the future.

Most of what we worry about never happens, or isn't as bad as we imagined anyway.

Look ahead, plan for the future,

But don’t worry about it.

11

How can we judge whether our affections are on things above or on things on the earth?

How can we judge ourselves as to whether we love the world or the Father?

Jesus gave us a measuring stick:

Page 12: Introduction to christian finances

12

Luke 16:10-12 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

True riches here are the spiritual riches which God commits to our trust.

Blessings like godly friendships, people to love you, a Biblical church,

Page 13: Introduction to christian finances

13

True riches will be a personal relationship with Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

Spiritual gifts with which to serve the Lord in His church.

Fruit of the Spirit -- Love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.

And God decides when and how much of these spiritual riches to trust us with,

according to how we deal with unrighteous mammon. (money)

14

How do you hope to receive money?

If you hope to earn the money you need, you have to be willing to work

You have to build a good work record.

You have to be faithfully on time for your job, working hard as unto the Lord.

Page 15: Introduction to christian finances

15

How do you use the money that God provides?

Necessities first!

Page 16: Introduction to christian finances

16

What is your mindset about saving?

Save all that you can.

Page 17: Introduction to christian finances

17

What is your mindset about giving?

Malachi 3 8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed Me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. … 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove Me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of Heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
