Class Overview
This class will provide an introduction to the
topic of Human Resource Management.
Students will familiarize themselves with the
history of HRM. This class provides
students with foundational information
regarding the topic of HRM.
What is Human Resource
Management?Various definitions of Human Resource Management (HRM) exists,
though commonality is shared in each definition.
The Business Dictionary defines HRM as, “The process of hiring and developing employees so that they become more valuable to the
organization. Human Resource Management includes conducting job analyses, planning personnel needs, recruiting the right people for the
job, orienting and training, managing wages and salaries, providing benefits and incentives, evaluating performance, resolving disputes
and communicating with all employees at all levels.”
