Flashlink Achievements

• The FR-2RU-10-2 is a compact frame with room for up to 10 Flashlink modules of any combination, in addition to two fixed positions for power supply modules.

• The system is module based, so all cards are the same size, and interchangeable between different housings.

• Flashlink has 3 types of WDM:• WDM: 2 wavelengths per fiber • CWDM: 16 wavelengths per fiber• DWDM: 40 wavelengths per fiber

• All-optical multiplexing, no electrical interface• All channels are completely independent• Direction-, bit-rate- and protocol-transparent

Coarse WDM - 16 wavelengths per fiber• CWDM in Flashlink since 2003

Dense WDM -40 wavelengths per fiber • DWDM in Flashlink since 2000

Time Division Multiplexing (TDM)

• TDM is electrical multiplexing for given input formats• 4x SD-SDI multiplexed and transported as HD-SDI• Use HD infrastructure, routers, etc.• Standardized in SMPTE 346M:2000

• TDM in Flashlink since 2006

WDM+TDM

• A mix of TDM (electrical serial multiplexing) andWDM (optical parallel multiplexing)
