Introduction to the ASEAN Flyway Project

• 2017 – 27th AWGNCB (Mar)

– Endorsed establishment of ASEAN Network on Wetlands and Migratory Waterbirds Conservation (AFN)

– Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) funding approval (21 Dec 2017)

– Inaugural Meeting of the AFN project on 10-11 April 2018, Singapore

– 2nd AFN meeting held on 9 Dec.

• Partners at site, local national, regional and international levels (can include governmental, intergovernmental, NGOs, academics, etc.)

AFN Project Objectives and Outputs

Outputs

1. A well-functioning ASEAN Network on Wetlands and Migratory Waterbirds Conservation

2. Improved knowledge of wetlands and migratory waterbirds in ASEAN Member States (AMS)

3. Enhanced capacity of site-managers and other stakeholders in managing wetlands and migratory waterbirds

4. Enhanced communication, education and public awareness of the values of migratory waterbirdsand their habitats
