◆ Therewillbetwoexams,amid-termandafinal.Theexamswillcoverclasslecturesandreadings.Theexamsaretakenonline,butmustbetakeninthepresenceofthecourseinstructor/coordinator.Thefinalexamiscumulative,coveringtheentiresemester.

◆ Therearetwobookreviewsassigned.Theseshouldbefourtosixpageseach.Halfofthereviewshouldpresentanoverviewofthebook.Theotherhalfofthereviewshouldexpressyouropinionofwhatyoulikedanddislikedaboutthebooks.

◆ Thesearetheminimalrequirementstopassthecourse.Thereviewsmustbeturnedin,bothtestsmustbetaken,andthereadingsmustbecompletedtopassthecourse.Althoughabookreviewcountsfortwentypercentofthefinalgrade,ifabookreviewisnotturnedinoracceptedbecauseitisoveraweeklate,thestudentcannotpassthecourseregardlessofscoresonotherassignments.

I. COURSEDESCRIPTIONThiscoursewillexposethestudenttoissuesconcerninghowtointerprettheGospels,andprovideanhistoricalandtheologicalsurveyofeachofthefourGospels,culminatingwithdiscussionofhowthesefourGospelswitnesstotheoneJesus.(3hours)

Outcomes:KnowthemajorthemesandmovementsofGod’sredemptiveworkasrevealedintheScriptures.

Objectives:

▪ UnderstandsthematerialsoftheNewTestamentcanonconcerning

thelifeandteachingsofJesusandthetransmissionofthegospelintheearlyChurch

▪ UnderstandsthebasichistoryanddoctrinesoftheearlyChurchasexpressedintheNewTestament

▪ Isabletoarticulatethebasicargumentandmajorcontributionof

eachbookofthecanon
