PENITENTIAL ACT

I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, (We strike our breast during the next two lines) through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

KYRIE ELEISON chant

GLORIA Congregational Mass • John Lee

COLLECT

FIRST READING Jeremiah 12:10-13

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 69:8-10, 14, 17, 33-35 C. Alexander Peloquin • Michel Guimont

It is for you that I suffer taunts, that shame has covered my face. To my own kin I have become an outcast, a stranger to the children of my mother. Zeal for your house consumes me, and taunts against you fall on me. ℟

But I pray to you, O LORD, for a time of your favor. In your great mercy, answer me, O God, with your salvation that never fails. LORD, answer, for your mercy is kind; in your great compassion, turn toward me. ℟

The poor when they see it will be glad, and God-seeking hearts will revive; for the LORD listens to the needy, and does not spurn his own in their chains. Let the heavens and the earth give him praise, the seas and everything that moves in them. ℟

SECOND READING Romans 5:12-15

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Alleluia

chant, mode II

The Spirit of truth will testify to me, says the Lord; and you also will identify. ℟

GOSPEL Matthew 10:26-33

HOMILY

NICENE CREED

I believe in one God the Father almighty,

Liturgy of the Word

maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God, from true God,

begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven.

At the words that follow, up to and including and became man, all bow.

And by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,

And rose again on the third day, in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins

and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

UNIVERSAL PRAYER

PREPARATION OF THE GIFTS O Jesu mi dulcissime Girolamo Frescobaldi

O Jesu mi dulcissime, spes suspirantis animae, te quaerunt piae lacrimae, te clamor metis intimae! Tu lux, tu spes, tu vita, tu bonitas infinita. O Jesus, most sweet to me, hope of the yearning soul, the tears of the pious seek you; the innermost soul cries out to you! You are shining light, hope, life, and infinite goodness.
