( “The Recycled Wood Bark of Malunggay(Moringa Oleifera) as Handmade Paper”)
INVERTIGATORY PROJECT
HOW TO MAKE USE OF MALUNGGAY BARK AS A
SUBSTITUTE FOR NORMAL WOOD TO BE USE IN PAPER
MAKING?
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The significance of this topic , The relative ease of malunggay and malunggay paper with which it propagates through both sexual and asexual means and its low demand for soil nutrients and water after being planted makes its production and management easy .It can be substituted to some other papers that is more expensive , but we should also consider the quality of the paper.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
1. The malunggay are removed from its stems
METHODOLOGY
MALUNGGAY BARK
2. The barks are stripped off and dried.
Stripped malunggay barks
3. The dried barks is boiled in caustic soda for 2-3 hours
4. The barks where than pounded to produce wood pulps.
5. The wood pulps were then bleached
6. Soak in water for 5-15 min. to make it whiter
7. Mold the wood pulp using the mold and deckle
8. To dry place it on an even surface or screen.
The investigators successfully made the malunggay paper as it seems the product turns out to have a rough texture . There is a natural design but if you compare it to other kinds of paper the quality is somewhat low .
RESULTS
It is possible to make paper from malunggay and be able to sell it in the market but you should expect that the quality would be lower than the standard type ones that you just buy from the store , yes it is cheaper but as said above the quality isn’t that great .
CONCLUSION
