„GENDER AND CLIMATE CHANGE FROM A HUMAN RIGHTS PERSPECTIVE“

The Master Class is directed at PhD students and Post-Docs from Law, Political Sciences and related disciplines who deal with topics dedicated to gender and environment(al law). Undergraduate students with a special interest in international (environmental) law are also invited.
The Master Class will start with an approximately one-hour lecture by Dr. Atapattu. Afterwards, PhD students as well as Post-Docs will have the opportunity to present their projects and to discuss them with Dr. Atapattu. The participants are required to submit an abstract of no more than 250 words in English and a short CV. The deadline for submission is 31 May 2016.
The Master Class will be held in English and is open to the public. Those who would like to attend are requested to register until 10 June 2016. Applications, registrations as well as queries should be addressed to [email protected]
Invitation and Call for Papers
The Chair for Public Law and International Law, Justus Liebig University Giessen, will hold a Master Class with Dr. Sumudu Atapattu on „Gender and Climate Change from a Human Rights Perspective" as part of the project „Comparative Legal Gender Studies Network (CoLeGe§-Net): The Emilie Kempyn-Spyri of the past, present and future," supported by the Women’s Commissioner of Justus Liebig University Giessen. Dr. Atapattu is a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School where she teaches seminars on International Environmental Law, especially on Climate Change and Human Rights. Her new book Human Rights Approaches to Climate Change: Challenges and Opportunities was published in 2016.
