MEMBERSHIP REPORT Davis County Farm Bureau membership has grown to 105 which is 20% of the 525 goal for the year April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021. This includes 16 new mem- bers signed since April 1. All re- cent renewals were for July. Thank you! POLICY DEVELOPMENT DISCUSSION MEETING HELD The 2020 Davis County Farm Bureau policy discussion meeting and picnic were held on July 13. This year to allow plenty of space to greet, eat and discuss while so- cial distancing, the event was held at the shelter house at the Davis County Fairgrounds in Bloom- field. The Davis County Cattlemen prepared food for the event for around three dozen Davis County Farm Bureau members and family members. Davis County Farm Bureau members present discussed, amended, then voted to approve policy resolutions. The basis of the proposed resolutions was from the responses of the online survey, the annual opinionnaire, sent to members in the spring. The adopt- ed resolutions have now been sent to the state resolutions committee for consideration. 2020 DAVIS COUNTY FB ADOPTED RESOLUTIONS This is the first installment of the policy resolutions adopted by Davis County Farm Bureau mem- bers at the discussion meeting on July 13. COUNTRY OF ORIGIN 1. We support mandatory Country of Origin labeling for beef. 2. The consumer has a right to know where the beef products they are purchasing come from. PROPANE PRIORITY (STATE AND NATIONAL) 3. In order to avoid supply shortages and distribution chal- lenges of propane, we wish to leave it to the market. PREVENT PLANT FALL PRICE (NATIONAL) 4. A fall harvest price option for prevent plant should be available. 5. We believe this program should be provided for by an in- creased premium/buy-up option. SPEED LIMITS (STATE) 6. County and state roads with a 55 miles per hour (mph) speed limit should be increased to 60 mph. Also present were: Vice President Susan Knapp, Vot- ing Delegate John Moritz, Secre- tary Nora Knapp, Directors Dick Rickelman, Phil Gaffney, Charlie Scott, Richard Johnson, Linzy Jones, Erica Wuthrich, Brett and Hannah Johnson, Emily Prevo, Ryan Gaffney and Sam Knapp and FB Regional Manager Jeff Probas- co. The financial report covering June checks was approved, subject to audit. A motion was approved to donate $100 to the Bloomfield Fire and Rescue Department for the fire safety education program for children. A motion was approved to donate funds to the Davis County Fair livestock auction (the planned amount plus $300). A motion was approved to donate $200 to the South Central Iowa Showdown af- ter hearing information presented by Brett Johnson. The 2020 Davis County Farm Bureau annual meeting will be a proxy meeting: the election ballot will be mailed to all members with the meeting announcement. Other meeting information will be avail- able via a website. No meal will be served this year but the three usual annual meeting awards (Steward of the Land, Outstanding Citizen of the Year, and, for a DCFB board member, the Roy S. Denny award) will be made, presentation details to be determined. A motion was approved to do- nate $400 to the DC Lord’s Cup- board instead of having the usual collection drive at the September annual meeting.
