• Value of having a patent is not in dispute as it allows exclusivity to develop products

• Having a patent however is of no value per se, unless its application leads to new product development and new value generation

• Therefore, field of invention, market knowledge and process/product value are key

• Two routes identify the right opportunities

• We use both R&D driven and market driven approaches

• For R&D driven process:

• Publication review strategy

• Develop a patenting strategy for broad coverage

• Internal/external background IP review

• Consultation with internal partners for field of application and potential value of invention

• Apply for patent protection in suitable geographies

• FCR does not have in-house patent agent/s

• However, we do have staff with IP experience

• Carry out training in IP searches, analysis and strategic developments

• We will work with local firms providing IP services well as overseas companies

• FCR/FG owns IP from platform development

• We will share IP depending on level of compensation

• Publications are key to maintain highest scientific standing

• IP generation will have incentives

• Entrepreneureal culture will be encouraged
