• Before you start to repair the iPad Mini Retina, make sure you are awareof the antennas on either side of the home button. When prying up thetouch screen digitizer of the iPad Mini be mindful of these parts so youdo not damage them (shown with orange arrows).

• The following process is recommended only on a tablet with a CRACKEDor DAMAGED touch screen digitizer that requires replacement.

• First, use the heat gun/blow dryer to begin warming up the adhesivesecuring the touch screen digitizer assembly to the iPad Mini’s rear case.

• Next, slip the precision knife tool between the tight seam of the glasstouch screen and the iPad’s rear case to begin the separation of the twoparts.

• Once the two parts are separated slightly, you can use a plastic ortriangle opening tool to continue working around the tablet.

• While working around the perimeter of the iPad Mini Retina prying upthe touch screen digitizer, use triangle opening tools to make sure theglass does not come back in contact with the adhesive.

• When you have completely separated the touch screen digitizer, lift itfrom the bottom (home button side) of the iPad Mini Retina similar toopening a book. Do not completely remove it as the touch screendigitizer ribbon cable is still connected to the motherboard.

• Locate and remove the four small Phillips screws (#00) that secure theRetina display into the iPad Mini (marked with solid orange circles).

• Lift the Retina display out of the iPad similar to opening a book (thesame way you did your touch screen digitizer), resting it on the touchscreen.

• Next, locate and remove the seven small Phillips screws (#00) that secure the metal protective plate into the iPad (marked with solid orange circles).

• Now, locate and remove the three small Phillips screws (#00) thatsecure the metal protective plate that covers the Retina display & touchscreen digitizer cables (marked with solid orange circles).

• With the protective plate removed, use the plastic opening tool or nylonspudger to gently release the connections from the motherboard. Youcan now remove the Retina display & touch screen digitizer from theiPad Mini Retina.

• The housing that aligns and secures the front-facing camera is held inplace with a small amount of adhesive. Carefully pry the housing up andout of the iPad Mini.

• The front-facing camera flex cable can be disconnected using the plasticopening tool or fine tip curved tweezers. You can now remove thefront-facing camera.

• Locate and remove the one Phillips screw (#00) that secures the headphonejack into the top of the iPad Mini (marked with a solid orange circle).

• Use the fine tip curved tweezers or plastic opening tool to release the cable for the headphone jack (located to the right of the front-facing camera).

• The microphone portion of the assembly is secured in place with a smallamount of adhesive; the use of a heat gun or blow dryer is encouraged towarm up the adhesive and prevent any damage to the delicate flex cable.

• Locate and remove the one small Phillips screw (#00) that securesrear-facing camera into the corner of the iPad Mini Retina (marked witha solid orange circle).

• Now use the fine tip curved tweezers or plastic opening tool to releasethe cable for the rear-facing camera. The rear-facing camera is securedin place with a small amount of adhesive, use the fine tip curvedtweezers to pry it up from its location and remove it from the iPad MiniRetina.

Loudspeaker Assemblies

• Locate and remove the nine small Phillips screws (#00) that secure bothloudspeaker assemblies and antennas into the rear case of the tablet(marked with solid orange circles).

• Next, locate and disconnect the two coaxial cables on the motherboard(marked with open white circles).

• The loudspeaker assemblies, which each have a WiFi antenna adheredto the top of them, will easily slide out from their housing locatedtoward the bottom of the iPad Mini Retina.

• Use the flat side of your spudger or plastic opening tools to carefullyseparate the WiFi antennas from the top of each loudspeaker.

Power & Volume Button Assembly

• Locate and remove the one small Phillips screw (#00) that secures theribbon cable connection into the side of the iPad Mini (marked withsolid orange circle).

• Use the fine tip curved tweezers or plastic opening tool to release thisconnection, peel it to the side revealing the securing screws for thepower & volume button assembly.

• Next, locate and remove the four small Phillips screws (#00) that securethe power & volume button assembly into the side of the iPad MiniRetina (marked with solid orange circles).

• With the screws removed, you can maneuver the power and volumebutton assembly up and out of the iPad Mini Retina.

• First, use the nylon spudger to release the battery connection from themotherboard.

• Now, locate and remove the five small Phillips screws (#00) that securethe motherboard, as well as the dock connector, into the bottom of theiPad Mini’s rear case (marked with solid orange circles).

• With the securing screws removed and connections released, yourmotherboard should be free to lift up and remove from the iPad Mini.

• The battery is secured into the rear case of the iPad Mini Retina withquite a bit of adhesive, use the heat gun or blow dryer to warm up therear case of the tablet and soften up the adhesive securing the battery.

• Next, use the flat side of your spudger to carefully pry up and releasethe battery from the securing adhesive. When prying up the battery, becareful not to bend or damage it.
