The apex of IPS activities during the third quarter was the annual meeting of its National Academic Council, which was attended by its esteemed members from across the country. A two-day conference: 'Pakistan and Afghanistan: Towards an Ideal Bilateral Arrangement', held in collaboration with Centre for Strategic and Regional Studies (CSRS) – Kabul, deliberated upon the prospects of the region's future and the relationship between the two countries. Two public seminars: 'Iran Nuclear Deal Program: Prospects and Challenges' and 'Pak-India Relations: Modi's Govt. Approach and Pakistan's Response' were also well received by the Institute's target audiences. Sessions on topics of 'Pakistan, an important player in China's go-global approach', 'Religion, Secularism and Socio-Economic Development' and 'Pre-trial Detention of an Accused & its Compensation under Islamic and Pakistani Law' also generated rich narratives and ideas for various studies being conducted at the Institute. This year's second issue of IPS' flagship journal: Policy Perspectives was published in the last quarter, too, while a situational brief on the progress of the parliament's electoral reforms committee was issued. The 37th issue of biannual journal Nuqta-e-Nazar also came out during the period. IPS' participation in two international conferences: 'Trans-Himalaya Development Cooperation and One Belt One Road Initiative' and in CICA (Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia) Forum and a national consultative seminar on 'Pakistan's literacy goals' were important avenues to share the institutional insight. An MoU with National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) to cooperate in capacity building activities also deserves a special mention.
