The agricultural sector in New Zealand is one of the strongest and most vibrant in the world. As an export focussed economy this industry has led the way in its ability to use technology to grow and to stay competitive. New Zealand shares with Ireland a strong historical connection, innumerable social and cultural ties and, in many cases, deep personal connections. It is little wonder then that so many Irish businesses are attracted to New Zealand and continue on to succeed and flourish in the New Zealand marketplace.
This year, I am delighted to welcome Invest Northern Ireland, who have brought a delegation of 6 companies and will be participating with us at Fieldays. I have no doubt that these companies will provide value in the New Zealand market, now and in years to come.

The Samco System was established in Ireland in 1997 by Samuel Shine. Samuel developed the machine to guarantee local farmers a crop of quality forage maize in a cool, less than favorable climate for maize corn growing.
The Samco System involves the use of a 3-in-1 machine that sows Maize Corn Seed, sprays a pre-emergence herbicide on the soil and lays a thin layer of degradable film over the soil, increasing air and ground temperature and protecting the young seedling from adverse weather and late frosts. The Samco System can be used in a range of climatic conditions depending on the customer’s requirements.
Samco is not only a machine manufacturer they also manufacture the degradable film for their system. Many trials are carried out each year worldwide in conjunction with seed and herbicide companies to deliver the highest performing products for our growers.
