WHITE WATER RAFTINGThe most challenging section of whitewater in theMidwest, the Menominee River plummets down a 10foot waterfall and tumbles wildly through canyonwalls, forming powerful hydraulics and huge standingwaves. For expert kayakers and rafters only, but thereare several rafting companies that offer rafting tripsthroughout the summer. A nature trail offers greatviews of the falls, perfect for hikers, camera bugs androck hounds. Take US-8 off US-2 in Norway and go 2miles south.
THE NORWAY SPEEDWAYThe track at Norway Speedway is a third mile oval that isslightly banked. The track, originally a dirt track, wasbuilt in 1942 and was blacktopped in 1978. CORNISH PUMP MINING MUSEUMThis museum displays the world’s largest steam drivenpumping engine and underground mining equipment. This 725ton engine rises 54’ above the engine room floor and was capable of pumping out 4.5 million gallons of water a day. In the coming years, the museum will be adding a new wing to include a fully restored World War IIglider built at the Ford plant that was once in Kingsford.
