Dear Parents/Caregivers,

I am delighted that this term, our school, like many other public schools in the state, will participate in a Department of Education initiative: the Tell Them From Me student feedback survey. The survey measures factors that are known to affect academic achievement and other student outcomes. The focus of the NSW-wide survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and effective teaching practices. Page 2: IRRAWANG PUBLIC SCHOOL...Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to one of our treasured classmates in Week 4. We made him a card from the class and told him how much he will be missed

Well what an exciting and busy start to 2019 in 5F! We have been so busy learning our class expectations, whole school PBL and new classroom and school routines. Students have achieved so much already this year. We have set the expectations so high for the rest of primary by winning the first COLA Dojo Reward in Week 5. Go 5F!

Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to one of

our treasured classmates in Week 4. We made

him a card from the class and told him how much

he will be missed at IPS. We wish Hajin all the

best in Sydney at his new school and in his new

life adventure.

We have been so busy learning new Numeracy games, Literacy skills, persuasive writing techniques and creating our own graffiti artwork that conveys our own individual messages to audiences. Here we are in the planning stages of our graffiti artworks, numeracy games, and Technology and Literacy tasks. We also have fun learning new games and social skills with 5/6P! We are so lucky to have the fabulous Mrs Pitkin as our SLSO!

2019 Student IAEG Representatives.

A very big congratulations to Luke Johnson and Elicia Roberts, both in 6M for being voted in by their peers as the Irra-

wang Aboriginal Education Group (IAEG) stu-dent representatives.

These students have already begun tasks re-lated to supporting their peers across the

Wow Week 6 already, What a busy start to the year! In Week 4 Year 6 participated in the Star Leader Training Day where Andrew Price, Mr Mac and Mrs Ping, taught us all about leadership and how to play our part in and around our school. We will celebrate this achievement in the badge ceremony at the whole school assembly on the 18th of March. We’re so excited to be in our school where big looks after little.

Also, over the past couple of weeks our Irrawang Aboriginal Education Group (I.A.E.G) groups started with amazing programs such as Bro Speak, Sister Speak, Little Bro Speak, Little Sister Speak and Gathang. These programs encourage our Aboriginal students to follow their culture and connect through activities. Our ATSI students have also come together to work on their MGoals and to vote for the I.A.E.G. Leaders for 2019. The successful applicants were Luke Johnson and Elicia Roberts. Congratulations leaders! Matthew Macdonald Assistant Principal

Library Monitors 2019

This year an Expression of Interest was offered to Year 5 for inspiring leaders who would like to explore the role of Library Monitor. We have had 12 fabulous students commit to a trial during Weeks 5-8 to see if they like the duties and responsibilities of Library Monitor. So far, ALL students have shown leadership and initiative and I am sure after their trial will become an asset to Irri’s Library. Best of luck goes to:

Storm Skelly, Mary Hunter, Maddison Stamford, Kira-Lea Cumming, Sage Farina, Aymiee Reid, Jasmine Shearer, Lacey Gitt, Alexander Pankhurst-Smith, Jahlara King, Amelia Stewart,

Students across the school will be participating in a reading challenge in class and from home from now until Friday 31st August to become the MOST AWESOMEST READER!!
