As indicatedby thefellows'individualtopics (listedbelow),ourdiscussionswillconsiderthe impactsofcultural;socialandeducationalpolicies,howthosepoliciesare implementedandtheextentto whichoutcomesdeviatefromthoseenvisionedby policyadvocates.Wewillalsobe'considerihg,whetheralJdhowscholarsworkingwithdataandotherkindsof evidencecanusethatevidencein advocatingspecificprogramswhilemaintainingclaimsto objectivity.Ourdiscussionswillalsoconsiderwhetherobjectivityis attainable,andifso, whetherandwhenitshouldbeconsideredaparamountvplue.inevaluatingscholarlywork. .

Basedonevaluationsof the pastthreeyea(sof seminarmeetings,themultidisciplinaryperspectivesuncoveredthroughthediscussionwillfindfutureapplicationsin fellows'teaching,research,andpublications.

Eachweekwewill discussa paperin progressby oneof theseminarmembers.Papersareavailable'at the IRWon~week inadvancEandmembersof thecommunityareirwitedto attend.
