Indian Standard
RECOMMENDATION ON NOMINAL
DIAMETERS IWR PRQCES,S EQUIPMENT
0. FOREWORD
til This Indian Standard was adopted by the Indian Standards Institution on 1g~August 1964, after the draft .%nalized by the Chemical Engineering Sectional Committee had been approved by the klechanical Engineering Division Council.
0.2 Chemical equipment come in various diameters and are designed to various temperature and pressure conditions. To help the fabricator to offer standard equipment and for the user to order equipment on such basis, it is very necessary to,lay down arationalized series of preferred diameters, te-m@eratures, pressures and capacities.
0.3 The diameters recommended in this standard are based on the series recommended in DIN 28001 : 1952 ‘Nominal diameters of chemical equip- ment:, issued by the’ Deutscher Normenausschuss, the series; however, being extended up to 5 000 mm.
0.4 I?or the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, express- ing the result of ‘a test shall be rounded off in accordance with IS : 2-1960*. The number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that ‘of the specified value in this standard.
1. SCOPE
1.1 This standard deals with the nominal diameters used in the designation of chemical equipment.
2. TERMINOLOGY
2.0 For the purpose of this standard, the following definition shall apply.
2.1 Nominal Diameter-The outer diameter of the chemical equipment in millimetres, except in the case of equipment built up from pipe in which case it shall be the.nominal diameter of the pipe.
*Rules for rounding off numerical values ( revised ) .
