Compare the Pair
Toorak College• We have tables and chairs • We have widows and solid
buildings• We have whiteboards and
interactive whiteboards• We have heating and
cooling• Uniform
School in Chad• The floor is dirt• The classroom is made of
clay • There is no glass in the
windows• Very simple learning
equipment such as books and writing material
• No uniform
Most uneducated Chadians would love to go to school
Children in Chad do want to learn and are perfectly capable of doing so.
However half of the population is illiterate.
Because many don’t get the opportunity to learn
In Australia without education we can’t really get a job.
In Chad it’s the same
Although without education it won’t be a very well paid job
Even though they have a family to feed
With an education, Chadians can get a better paid job
And will be able to afford say – a cow
What differences do a cow make?Well…..
It provides:• Milk
• More Cows
• Meat
• Warmth
Life’s better already
Is Education Taken For Granted?

What we think of school:
Life in Australia is more advanced.
How?…..
We Have:
• Cities • Cars• Big houses• Advanced Technology• More money• Better health• More people
In a nutshell – we are a more advanced society
So do we take education for granted?:
