Isaac

• The second patriarch of the Israelites

• Offered as a burnt offering to God

• Married with Rebekah

• Had twin sons by Rebekah (Ge25:21-26)

• Loved the elder son Esau (Ge25:27-28)

• Deceived by the younger son Jacob for blessing (Ge27:1-29)

Jacob (1)

• The third patriarch of the Isrealites who were named after him

• Managed to get Esau sell his birthright to him

• Deceived Isaac into blessing him

• Fleeing from Esau to uncle Laban

• Married Leah and Rachel, giving birth to 12 sons and at least 1 daughter

Jacob (2)

• Serving father-in-law for 20 years• Taking his family and cattle back to Canaan• Wrestled with God (Ge32:24-26)• Renamed Isreal on the way back(Ge32:28)

Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, [Israel means he struggles with God.] because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome.” 那人说 :“ 你的名不要再叫雅各,要叫以色列;因为你与神与人较力,都得了胜。”

Judah

• The fourth son of Jacob• It was Judah's idea that Joseph was sold t

o the passing merchants, which saved Joseph out of the fate of death

• Judah's descendants became the chief inhabitants of the kingdom of Judah

• Ancestor of David through his son Pharez / Perez
