ISABELLA PERS |PORTFOLIO Amoris Victima is a reflection on the contradiction in which love could turn into illness and on the contrast between the idea of a civilized west and the increase in femicide, in too many cases associate with a romantic declination that the media offer to violence. According to the statistic crimes of passion are the majority of crimes consumed in Italy. Data from recent research carried out by a sample of 266 murders: 84% of crimes are passionate; about 70% of victims are female; in 90% of cases there is a familiar author-victim; in most cases has roots in married life. According to the statistic crimes of passion are the majority of crimes consumed in Italy. Trought new global digital systems every personal mnemonic path can leave its trace beyond the life of the single individual. The mathematical formulas related to these systems have been imprinted on the appendix of 30 women. I chose the monumental Staircase of Honor of the Royal Palace for its direct connection to the collective historical memory. In these actions the people could order a performance in their private home, without knowing what was going to happen.I realized this action inside four houses. The spectators were the owners, with their relatives or some very close friends. After 7 minutes of a staring gaze with the landlord, to the sound of the whistle of my assistance, I myself became the householder. So I began to move in ‘my’ space interacting with objects, animals and guests.

Nine teens of my village wear and pose as they prefer. Behind them there are the bulwarks of an ancient fortress city, and a small entrance leads to an old gunpowder deposit and arms deposit.The title of the series alludes to the movie Taxi Driver by Martin Scorsese and especially to the line that Travis-Robert De Niro says gripping a pistol pointed at his image reflected in the mirror

YOU LOOKING AT ME? 2008, photographic series

This work is a reflection on the impossibility to get lost in unknown places, as everywhere in the world we come across the same signs of consumerism or the same digital modality to find the way.

The photos were taken by cell phone, single use cameras, and other tourist tools, but the captions of place and time do not correspond to the real images.

The California Department of Transportation posted several ‘family immigration caution road sign’ along the freeways beginning in 1990, when the area was a funnel for undocumented immigrants headed north crossing the U.S–Mexico border, and where thousands of immigrants died. Over time the image of the road sign has taken on a life of its own. Today the running family is found on Tshirts, coffee mugs, stickers, book covers, and other gadgets.
