Through the platform, teachers can access interactive simulations, educational games and use remote

laboratories by merging the use of these instruments in their current curricular activities. ISE also provides

an evaluation system, based on the PISA 2020 framework, able to evaluate the advancement of students’

ability to "problem solving", as well as the professional development of teachers involved.

relevance of technology-enhanced learningin Jordan trough developing and implementing new

accreditation standards, guidelines and procedures for distance learning study programs according to EU

practices. This proposal has been supported by Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research as

well as the Higher Education Accreditation Commission. eQTeL focuses on developing a quality assurance

framework to foster technology-enhanced learning in university education in Jordan, and establishing a

sustainable capacity building program to facilitate the use of technology in education.

Starting from 2014 the Marconi University coordinates the UNIfHY project. The initiative aims to develop a

biomass steam gasification process joined to syngas purification to produce pure hydrogen from biomass,

increase well-to-tank efficiency and contribute to a sustainable energy portfolio. The results obtained in

past R&D EU projects on hot gas catalytic conditioning will be exploited, utilizing plant components of

proven performance and reliability and well established processes as UNIQUE coupled gasification and hot

gas cleaning and conditioning system, Water-Gas Shift system and Pressure Swing Adsorption system.

The UCCrowd project is led by ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon and includes thirteen partner

organizations from across Europe including seven higher education institutions, five commercial

organization’s and one research centre. The project aims to strengthen links between companies and

Higher Education Institutions by using a crowdsourcing platform. The project allows companies to share

their problems with universities and encourages European professors and students to identify innovative

solutions for them. Crowdsourcing is an open opportunity to make people experience new creative ways

TIES, coordinated by University of Alicante, contributes to the development of international relations

management of Higher Education Institutions in the MEDA region, in particular Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon,

Egypt, Morocco, and Jordan. The project partnership comprises three European organizations with

expertise in institutional internationalization and twelve partners from the MEDA Region. The project

focuses on strengthening the management capacities of staff from partner universities, and means to build

efficient structures for international relations. The project includes different types of actions, including on-

site observation sessions, human resources development, drafting strategic internationalization plans for

participant institutions and establishing a formalized regional network dedicated to internationalization.

All the activities are designed to be complementary and drive the participants towards an innovative and

combined approach to internationalization.

The Marconi University is the coordinator of OPORTUNIDAD project which intends to strengthen and

sustain the European and Latin American Common Higher Education Area by increasing the use of open

educational practices and resources (OEP & OER). The project contributes to raise awareness and widen

Universities’ participation in open educational practices and resources and also defines the OER Agenda

for the re-use of OER at institutional level . The project’s activities include the definition of a mid-term

strategic roadmap for the implementation of the OER Agenda at local-institutional level, the training of

teachers on how to use and reuse OER in a pedagogically-rich context, the piloting of start-up open

educational practices with a linkage to the international community and to the job market.

The UNICA project, coordinated by the Colombian Universidad de Caldas, supports the development of

higher education in Latin America as a means to contribute to the economic and social development of the

Region. The project contributes to establish and implement a rural higher education program linked to

secondary education, which facilitates university enrollment for young people from rural areas. In

addition, it builds a network of Latin American and European Universities to foster cultural and knowledge

exchange between teachers and students. The project envisages the increasing of social cohesion thanks

to access to higher education for highly vulnerable populations (rural youth, rural communities), the

collaboration with the rural research and productive sector through practical activities, the contribution to

the higher education modernization by means of the creation of university networks.

ICT - Multilateral Network

EUROVERSITY, coordinated by University of Hull, is a network of eighteen partners from ten European

countries (United Kingdom, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Portugal, Cyprus,

Germany), and a third country partner from Israel. This network is made up of a group of organizations

that have had significant experience of the use of 2D/3D virtual worlds in learning and teaching contexts, a

smaller number of partners with limited experience who wish to apply the experiences of the network to

the design of new courses within virtual worlds in their own contexts, and other institutions who have no

direct experience of virtual world education but who have a specific interest in education, media and

transformation of knowledge. The project intends to share experiences by using online virtual platforms to

support educational provision and transfer Knowledge focused on the transformation of the experiential

content into guidance.

Comenius Multilateral Project

The TALETE project, coordinated by Marconi University, is a multilateral project under the Lifelong

Learning Programme targeting primary and secondary school learners. Results from international surveys

of school students’ performance in mathematics show that students in many European countries do not

perform satisfactorily. TALETE addresses mathematics education in some of the underperforming

European countries. The project aims at improving the quality and efficiency of education and training as

follows: identifying and developing teaching and learning methods in the field of mathematics with a focus

on geometry; improving the quality of learning in order to support the development of students’ basic and

about Copyrights, Plagiarism, WEB Fair use, Open Source, Pedagogical Methodologies to support creativity

genius innovations. Finally, an ethic code, "Code to be Genius" is developed as a reference model behavior

The KEYS project, coordinated by the Bulgarian organization Intercultural Co-operation Foundation,

intends to valorize and promote the results achieved by five previous Comenius Multilateral Projects

focused on the acquisition of key competences for Lifelong Learning. In such a way it intends to provide

support to teachers and school educators for the implementation of competence based education able to

respond to the requirements of contemporary life. KEYS partners intend to take a closer look at the

methodology grounds of the products and outcomes developed within these projects and promote to a

larger extent most suitable methodologies for successful competence based learning. The projects

identified are SUSTAIN, AQUEDUCT, KeyTTT, READIT and IdiaL, they are valorized through four National

Interactive Seminars organized in Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy and Belgium.

EUTUNE

The EU TUNE project, promoted by Marconi University, aims at creating a community of secondary schools

students from EU Member States, candidate and potential candidate partner countries composing the

Adriatic Ionian Euroregion: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro. The proposal focuses

on the Adriatic region in order to strengthen the relationships among neighbor States and to increase the

mutual awareness of next generation through the promotion of a digital language and a web-based

communication system.

The project aims at making young students talk about their everyday life, the cultural and natural heritage

of their country, hopes and expectations issuing from the forthcoming European enlargement,

preconceptions and stereotypes related to their country and how to face them.

The aim of the project is to make young people "talk" through the digital storytelling language, in order to

prevent the growing up of preconceptions and stereotypes or to delete the existing ones.

READ IT

The READ IT project, coordinated by Marconi University, is inspired by the lack of ICT use in schools

throughout Europe despite the possible educational benefits and social learning opportunities they

promote. The primary aim of READ IT is to enhance the quality of teaching and education in secondary

schools through the introduction of novel pedagogical approaches and practices. The main objective is to

develop teachers’ skills and practice through the inclusion of ICT tools and digital storytelling techniques in

classroom, specifically, to produce book trailers as a means of promoting engagement with reading and

writing. READ IT addresses secondary schools teachers and students from the five partner countries: Italy,

Denmark, Romania, Turkey and Unite Kingdom. The project multi-actor partnership consists of seven

organizations among universities, publishers, secondary schools and non for profit organizations.

Establishing a University communication structure

STRATEGICOM, coordinated by Marconi University, responds to Algeria’s priorities of University

Management, Services for Students and Development of International Relations defined by the TEMPUS

Programme. To keep pace with the continual global changes facing higher education and in order to

respond more effectively to external collaboration requests, Algerian universities should be equipped with

a system that allows them to take decisive action, effectively and efficiently.

The project calls for the formulation of a communications strategy based on an analysis of best practices in

communications throughout European Universities and the training of relevant university personnel

implicated.It culminates in a Recommendation Paper to be presented to the Ministry of Higher Education

for its approval. Through the participation and endorsement of the Ministry of Higher Education, the

Recommendation Paper becomes a tool for the reform of the Algerian higher education structure.

The ImpAQ project, coordinated by Marconi University, identifies and analyses national Qualifications

within the Agricultural sector in order to compare and link them to the European Qualifications

Framework (EQF).

Although Qualifications within the Agricultural sector in Europe share a common base, each country

represents significant geographical differences that result in variable Learning Outcomes. ImpAQ

recognizes the importance of researching different national qualifications in order to contribute to the

comparative analysis at national and European level. The project’s target group is composed by: National

Coordination Points for the EQF; institutional bodies; schools; vocational training agencies; higher

education institutions, farmer associations guilds.

The main project results and products comprise: a Sample Qualifications Inventory concerning the

Agricultural sector; a range of issues and scenarios of possible solutions to develop comparability of

Qualifications in Agriculture.

STreet ARTists in a virtual space

The ST.ART project, coordinated by Marconi University, aims at raising young students’ awareness on

street art forms as opposed to vandalism. The project encourages wider arts participation, creative

teaching and learning. It promotes creative sense of entrepreneurship in a new education environment

through the arts, and the development of new skills that include: creative thinking, decision-making,

negotiation and collaboration, team work, leadership, commitment, research and development in

communication, as well as IT skills.

In details the ST.ART educational model combines three education areas made up of three main learning

sessions: e-course, art works performed in a 3D virtual space and a social area. ST.ART project aims to

provide an innovative learning platform for contemporary art to young students of secondary schools and

encourages creative teaching and learning through a new integrated methodology that combines Web 2.0

and a 3D virtual world, learning and games.

SEEP is aimed at facing the following big challenges: strengthening the European dimension of science

education and science work; improving science education and training quality; improving science careers

guidance quality; improving science teachers and school managers competences linked to science

education and guidance; increasing the production, exchange and dissemination of research findings, good

practices, innovative products and processes in science education. SEEP is aimed at secondary science

teachers, students guidance officers, trainers, school managers and science students in Europe.

Teaching Tutoring - Intelligent Agents to customize

lifelong learning pathways in microfinance sector

Innovation

Budget: Euro 321.618,00

The T2 project aims at improving the quality of training in the microfinance sector by providing a learning

model based on Artificial Intelligence technology and blended learning. This allows professionals from

microfinance institutions to customise their training path according to their learning needs. The T2

Programs on Sustainable Microfinance will be offered in Poland, France and Italy and delivered in three

sessions: on-line course, on-site workshops and web-based project works. The T2 platform encompasses

an e-course and a Virtual Tutor, an intelligent agent system able to generate personal assessment

pathways for learners. This evaluation tool helps teachers customize face-to-face sessions based on

learners’ specific needs. The Virtual Tutor acts as a realistic teacher, personalizing a sequence of

assessment questions and giving appropriate feedback based on each trainee’s response.

Reinforcing the links between education and

working life and improving students’ career

The LESCO project, a Learning Partnership involving four organizations from Italy, Bulgaria, Belgium and

Austria, intends to study in full the topics of career guiding and counselling and reinforcing the links

between education and working life. The project intends to identify relevant difficulties linked to

education and training (e.g. reasons for early drop-outs; difficult transition to work; lack of motivation to

study) in partner countries, choose appropriate best practices and draw some conclusions to advance

secondary and tertiary education programs in Europe. The project schedules five meetings in the partner

countries.

VA2EL

VAluing Education and Experience for Local

councillors in Europe

Leonardo da Vinci Multilateral Project

Budget: Euro 382.809,00

The VA2EL project is aimed at local councilors serving or having served in local authorities of the six

partner countries: France, Austria, Greece, Italy, Poland and Lithuania. The project’s specific target group

comprises councilors from small municipalities. Being poorly remunerated, they usually combine their

mandate with a full-time job. The VA2EL project aims at proposing a specific support for the local

councilors, the E-Portfolio, aimed at identifying and valorizing the competences and skills acquired during

their mandate. The use of such a tool leads to a self-exploration process allowing the local councilors to

find out which skills and competences they have gained, also focusing on their training needs and future

professional objectives.

European Network on Exchange Early Detection

The E-NEEDD Project guides participating institutions (seven universities, one NGO, one Trade Union and

one secondary school) in a exercise of mutual collaboration to advance knowledge of prevention tools for

professionals who work with teenagers. Key partners are Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia

(UNED) acting as beneficiary institution and Universidad Miguel Hernández acting as the coordinator.

The project intends to carry out the following activities: comparative study of preventive interventions

Educational strategies for the promotion of Natural

EDUNATHER is a pilot project coordinated by GeoCultural Park of Eastern Aegean, which introduces web-

based GIS technologies to educational processes. EDUNATHER provides complete and practically feasible

solutions with regard to innovative training programs based on the use of web-GIS (Geographic

Information System) technologies. The scope of the project is to develop an on-line spatial database with

multidisciplinary data. The on line spatial database acts as information rendering and data exchanging

providing rich multimedia experiences for e-learning purposes. The end users of the system are teachers

and students at all educational levels, individual researchers and educational institutes. A series of e-

courses based on GIS tools on the topics of geology, geomorphology, and agriculture are developed and

available on line. The courses are designed either to act as a supplementary tool for traditional classes or

to act as autonomous courses for open learning.

The PARMENIDE project, coordinated by Guglielmo Marconi University, aims at bridging the gap between

theoretical and practical approaches and fostering the importance of pedagogical agents for on-the-job

and computer-based training. In order to demonstrate the potential and effectiveness of the new

methodology based on Intelligent Agents, PARMENIDE experiments two pilot applications for

transportation sector workers.

In such applications, the virtual pedagogical characters use Artificial Intelligence methods to carry out

complex tasks and enhance a pragmatic approach to solve problems. In addition, the virtual agent

evaluates trainees’ performances and adapt the learning method to their specific needs.
