Islam and Sufi-ism.The Sufi-ism is the relationbetween Allah and mankind. His Eminence Hazrat Shah SufiSaleh Uddin Ahmed ChistyInternational President and CEO,PCCIIS International.

"Say to My servants that they should only say thosethings that are best. For satan doth sow dissensionamong them. For satan is to man an avowed enemy."(Quran XVII: 53)According To The Muslim faith, When the AlmightyAllah created Adam (the father of the humanprogeny) out of a lump of clay, and commanded theangels to greet him with a 'Sijda' (prostration inhumility), I bless the satan hesitated to obey andaccept Adam as his superior because he claimed hisown superiority over Adam by virtue of his age longdevotion to Al lah and creation out of fire. Hisreluctance to obey and bow before Adam, however, resulted in his condemnation and he was therefore, eternally banished from the pleasure of Allah. Underthis great humiliating disappointment, the satan, however, pleaded with Allah that he and his progeny(the satan belongs to the progeny of the genii) maybe granted an everlasting opportunity to misleadmankind into error and sin in order to test thedevotion of Adam and his progeny to Allah. Thisrequest was granted by the Almighty Allah with thecommandment that whosoever followed the satan'spath will forfeit his pleasure and that his abode will

be in the fire of hell eternally. To accept either ofthe two options for the creation Adam and hisprogeny, would not have been in the best interestsof mankind just l ike i llness and health, blindnessand clear vision, night and day, heat and cold, goodand evil, and so on.The first treacherous act of satan under thisarrangement started with the beguilement of Adamhimself in the well known episode of eve and the"forbidden fruit" which resulted in the banishment ofboth Adam and eve from the heavenly paradise as apunishment against Allah pleasure and thus thetreachery of satan, the avowed enemy of theprogeny of Adam, has continued throughout the agescausing perpetual misery among the best majority ofthose people who succumb to his mischievousallurements in defiance of the commandments ofAllah. In this respect there are two kinds of people in theworld, those who follow the commandants of Allah, and those who are susceptible to the beguilement ofsatan. There has always been a mighty strugglebetween the followers of satan and the believers ofAllah ever since the creation of Adam in which thelatter have always vanquished the formerAccording to the Holy Quran, those who follow thesatan's enticement are rebels of Allah. They willhave to render an account of their misdeeds andsins on the Day-of-Reckoning and suffer punishmentin hell for they acted against the pleasure of Allah, but those who defy satan and stick steadfastly tothe path of righteousness and truth as ordained in

the Holy Quran and preached by Prophet Mohammed(Peace be upon him), are promised salvation andeternal bliss in paradise. This is one of the principalarticles of faith in Islam. The pages of the history and all religious books ofthe world are ful l of the terrible stories of Allahretribution upon those past rebellious generations ofmankind who defied the teachings of His Prophetsand apostles under the mischievous influence ofsatan. There have also been numerous bloody warsbetween the forces of evil and good, Truth andfalsehood, the followers of satan and the devoteesand bel ievers of the Almighty Allah in which thelatter few have always vanquished the over-whelming many. As stated above again and againAllah has sent his Prophets and apostles to all racesand nations of the world in order to warn and keepthem on the right path of truth. As it happened, aftertheir death people forgot their sacred lessons andbecame victims of satan's treachery only to forfeitthe pleasure of Allah and earn his retribution. This isa divine decree which no civil izat ion or modernprogress can change in spite of all our scientific andmaterial advancement. When the Holy Prophet of Islam Hazrat Mohammed(Peace be upon him) appeared on the scene ofArabia in 750 AD, satan had virtually established hisdevilish kingdom over the Arabs who were steepedinto abysmal ignorance and sin. What was the actual condition of Arabia before thebirth of holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace be uponhim)? According to the holy Quran, "It was on the

verge of f iery abyss." The barbarous Arabs werecompletely submerged under the evil influence ofsatan. They were soaking in superstition, ignorance, cruelty and idolatry and were torn asunder byinternecine feuds and wars. They had no settledgovernment and lived a nomadic life. Wine, womenand every kind of vice and crime summed up theirgeneral attitude towards life. Even the Jews and theChrist ians had forgotten the teachings of theirProphets Moses and Jesus, and had becomeidolaters. Writing about the condition of Christianityin the 7th century was itself decrepit and corrupt. Itwas disabled by contending schisms and hadsubstituted the peculiarities of superstition of thepure and expansive faith of the early ages."The teachings of the Prophet of Islam, howeverwrought a dynamic transformation in the sinful lifeof the Arabs within only a few years despite all theworst type of oppression, insults and persecution bythe evi l forces of satan in order to stick to theirdevi lish ways of life. But, in spi te of all theseobstacles, Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him)succeeded and succeeded triumphantly incompletely routing the forces of satan and religionof Peace and prosperity happiness of the wholeworld as well. The true purpose of religion is that human beings

should fol low the r ight path according to divineteachings. But before asking people to follow theseteachings, it is fi rst necessary to explain theteachings and whose teaching they are: secondly, about the one who is preaching them, and finally, the great benefit that will be derived by following

them. These are the fundamentals on which religionsare formed. To have a comparative study of Islam inthe l ight of the teachings found in other sacredbooks, is to know what a comprehensive worldreligion Islam is pointing out also how the author ofsuch a religion was decidedly the last great Prophet, there being consequently no further necessity at allfor another Prophet to rise. Quran is the finalrevealed book of Allah and Mohammed is the lastAs a matter of fact, Islam which means peace andwhich represents the divine code for a disciplined, contented and harmonious l ife of man on earthalready existed in one or the other form long beforethe advent of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace beupon him). It however needed a revival in an up todate form because due to individual and polit icalintrigues, certain abuses had crept into i t. Thepreceding generations had altered the true spiritand version of the former Holy scriptures to suittheir own sel fish ends and conveniences. Thusmutilating the original commandments of Allah andbringing an ugly slur on the fair name of religion. These unauthor ized intrusions and muti lationstherefore necessitated up to date 'divine code' in itspristine glory and that is why a f inal and perfectreligion in the form of Islam was revealed throughthe Holy Quran and Prophet Mohammed (Peace beupon him) with the explicit warning that no moreProphets were to come after him. Islam is therefore,a perfect religion for all humanity and for all time, and not for the Muslims alone, whether the worldaccepts this divine claim or not.

Unlike the past, Islam is now preserved in its up todate perfection in the Holy Quran and because thepast generations proved themselves incapable ofpreserving the original commandments of Allah intheory and true perspective had, as stated above, tampered with them to suit their own intriguingconveniences, therefore the Almighty Allah promisedin the Quran to be its preserver himself this time. One of the living instances of this jealousguardianship is that mil lions of Muslims easilycommit this 'Book of Allah' to memory- a featureunique in its own way which is nothing short of amiracle. There is no instance in the living memory ofmankind to show that any of the ancient religiousbooks or any other kind of book of such avoluminous nature as the Holy Quran is, was evercommitted to memory. This fact alone proves thatAllah original words have been preserved as Hewilled, and that there have been no tamperingwhatever with them after the death of the HolyProphet Mohammed (Peace be upon him) throughwhom the Quran was deliveredThere are many unique virtues of Islam and its holyProphet as compared with his predecessors. Whilethe preceding Prophets were endowed with only one'divine' virtue to help them to make their missionsuccessful, Prophet Mohammed (Pease be upon him)had the exclusive distinction of possessing all those'divine' virtues in him which were bestowed upon hispredecessors individually. For instance, ProphetMohammed (Peace be upon him) was endowed withthe exemplary patience granted to Prophet Ayub, themiraculous virtues possessed by the 'staff' given toProphet Moses, the heal ing spell possessed by

Prophet Jesus, the perfect human beauty bestowedupon Prophet Yusuf and the supreme faith owned byProphet Abraham.

Further, no Prophet ever since the creation of Adam, had the unique distinction of being succeeded byillustration saints and divines among his followersas the Prophet of Is lam had a venerable l ine ofreligious teachers and saints who shunned all pompand show of the material world in order to serve thecause of Islam and humanity selflessly andfaithfully. Both morally and spiritually they werepictures of perfection and stood out alone in themultitude of intelligentsia, never deviating from theteachings of the Quran or the tradition of theProphet. Their one paramount aim of l ife was theselfless service of mankind, strictly in accordancewith the teachings of the holy Quran both, in letterand spirit these holy teachers of Islam in the garb ofsufi dervishes continued to keep the banner of Islamfly ing for a period of nearly 900 years after thedeath of the holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace be uponhim) by their matchless zeal, abstemious characterand amazing spiritual powers and it is due to thisunique dedication to the service of mankind thatthere are today 90 chores of Muslims spreading allover the world whose 'faith' in their religion remainsas staunch and unshakable as it has ever been inspite of all the political and social revolutions of theworld ever since the death of Prophet Mohammed(Peace be upon him).On the illustrious list of these great sufi saints whopreserved the spiri t and promoted the cause ofIslam by their strict religious devotion and amazing

spiritual powers under all sorts of cruel persecutionlike the holy Prophet himself, the name of HazratKhawaja Muinuddin Chisty of Ajmer stands high inperpetual glory. For the spiritual salvation and moraluplift of the people of South Asia by peaceful meansand universal love. In fact, this lonely saint actuallychanged both the map and the course of South Asianhistory at a crucial period of her destiny not bysword or cannon but by the sweet and melodiousspell of his spiritual sway plus unparalleled moraland religious character, a revolution which usheredin quite a new era of peace and prosperity formillions of Asian, and a revolution which the marchof history and the present civilization cannot affordto forget in the interests of mutual love and peacefor which the people of the world are so intenselythirsting today.Mutual goodwill and confidence between man andman and nation and nation are once more rapidlydeteriorating, and because the world is searchingfor a lasting peace against the forces of satan thathave once again raised their monstrous head underthe intoxication of new kind of scientificmaterialism. The teachings of His Eminence Hazarat Shah SufiSaleh Uddin Ahmed Chisty and Islam must, therefore, be preached for the interests of humanrights and world peace. We are sure, these lessons will be of great help ineasing the pol it ical and rel igious tensions andrestoring the waning fai th of man in Allah and
