On top of the 7% HOT another 2% is added to pay for con-vention center bonds. So out of the total 9% HOT tax collected the down-town convention center is getting just under 5%.Most of the money raised by sales of beach parking permits on The Island comes back to The Island for beach maintenance. Revenue from beach permits in 2010 was $614,019 and $602,914 was allocated for beach maintenance.
