Islesboro Microwave Design Scope Document 1/5/2016 As part of the Islesboro fiber to the home project, the town will be utilizing 3 microwave paths to give broadband to 3 outlying islands. Two of the paths will originate from the schoolhouse (44.267793°, - 68.918503°) while one will originate from a contractor placed pole (44.309362°, -68.912003°) located near the center of the island. The terminus of the paths will be as follows. 700 Acre Island 44.258629°, -68.938003°: Contractor placed utility pole located at the end of the pole line near the boatyard. Seal Island 44.258629°, -68.938003°: Contractor placed pedestal 5’-7’ Minot Island 44.247426°, -68.933275°: Gable end of guest house. While the town will specify the radios and antenna’s as part of a Dragonwave provided microwave design, it is expected that the contractor or its sub-contractor will perform a design walk with the town or its representatives to verify the below scope and notes and to measure out and specify quantities of such items as LMR 400, conduit, mounts and power runs. It is expected that this is a turn-key service and that items not contemplated within this scope or amended during the design walk are included in a single price given to the town of Islesboro.

As part of the Islesboro fiber to the home project, the town will be utilizing 3 microwave paths to give broadband to 3 outlying islands. Islesboro School to Minot Island

Scope – General

1.) Path microwave LINK to Dragonwave specifications 2.) Crew must be Dragonwave certified 3.) Crew is expected to preconfigure the Dragonwave radios 4.) Coordinate fiber interconnect from POP to cabinet located at the schoolhouse

Scope – School House

1.) Install microwave dish on top of existing HVAC unit located at schoolhouse utilizing existing top brackets. IMPORTANT: HVAC UNIT IS NOT TO BE PENETRATED. Only the top brackets are to be utilized to mount the microwave antenna and radio.

2.) Run conduit, power and LMR 400 from microwave radio / antenna to ground mounted cabinet. 3.) Contractor to supply and spec conduit, mounting, and all peripheral materials 4.) Town will spec ODU and IDU radio, microwave antenna, cabinet and contractor will supply. 5.) Hire electrician to power cabinet using school’s power.

Scope – Minot Island

1. Contractor to mount microwave dish and radio to gable end of existing guest house (shown in picture above) and run wiring or conduit approximately 150’ to interior or outdoor cabinet as specified by the Land Lord or their representative.

2. Contractor is expected to organize access to Island. 3. Contractor to supply and spec conduit, mounting, and all peripheral materials. 4. Town will spec ODU and IDU radio, microwave antenna, cabinet and contractor will supply.

Islesboro School to 700 Acre Scope – General
