SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE

The aim of this conference is to bring together academicians, scientists, technologists and students working in the field of metastable, nanocrystallineand amorphous materials to discuss the recent developments and review the challenges faced in the field.Best poster paperswill be judged and awardedduring the conference. The topics of interest include but are not limited to:Ø Nanostructured materialsØ QuasicrystalsØ Glasses (metallic, oxide and polymer) Ø Nanoporous materialsØ High entropy materialsØ Thinfilms, coatingsandlowdimensionalmaterialsØ Mechanical alloyingØ RapidsolidificationprocessØ Mechano-chemical synthesisØ New processing routes for the synthesis of nano and

amorphous materialsØ Structure of amorphous materials including clustering

and short-range orderØ Advances in the characterization of nano and amorphous

materials, including in-situ studiesØ Atomistic modelling of amorphous and nano materialsØ Phase transformations in nano and amorphous materialsØ Mechanical behaviour of nano and amorphous materialsØ Magnetic, transport and optical properties of nano and

amorphous materialsØ Chemical and bio-chemical properties of nano and

amorphous materialsØ Nanomaterialsinenergyharvesting,energyefficiency

and renewable energy applicationsØ Applications of nanomaterialsØ Applications of amorphous materialsØ Any other areas related to metastable, amorphous and

nanomaterials

The subsequent symposia have been held in Quebec (1995), Rome (1996), Sitges (1997), Wollongong (1998), Dresden (1999), Oxford (2000), Ann Arbor (2001), Seoul (2002), Foz do Iguaçu (2003), Sendai (2004), Paris (2005), Warsaw (2006), Corfu Island (2007), Buenos Aires (2008), Beijing (2009), Zürich (2010), Gijón (2011), Moscow (2012), Turin (2013), Cancún (2014), Paris (2015), Nara (2016), San Sebastian (2017) and Rome (2018). ISMANAM 2019 will be the 26th conference in this series, beingheldinIndiaforthefirsttime.Theaimofthe conference is to provide a suitable platform for the exchange of ideas in the areas of metastable, nano and amorphous materials. The symposium not only helps thescientificcommunitytostayupdatedwiththelatestdevelopments, but also enables discussion on the key scientificchallengesinthefield.

ABOUT IIT MADRASIndian Institute of Technology Madras was founded in the year 1959 with technical assistance from West Germany. IIT Madras boasts of a green campus of 2.5 square kilometres, which was a part of the Guindy National Park (a protected wildlife area) from which it has inherited the diverse flora and fauna. Theinstitute has 16 departments ranging across Science, Engineering, Management and Humanities streams offering undergraduate, postgraduate and researchdegrees. It is a residential campus with about 600 faculty,9500studentsand600supportingstaff.Withitsfocus on excellence in teaching, research, technology development and entrepreneurship, IITM has been maintaining the 1st rank among Indian Engineering Institutes for the last three consecutive years under the National Institutional Ranking Framework of MHRD, India.

WELCOME TO CHENNAI

Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, is a culturally, historically and technologically rich city on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. It is the 4th largest city in India and a major commercial centre in the region.
