Isolation Cart Standardization Labeling and Standardization
Where to begin?
The ISO Cart List
Generate a list of items that should be stored in the ISO cart
The list can serve as a useful visual allowing users to know the quantity, location, and type of items inside the ISO cart
The list should be taped to the most visible portion of the ISO cart
Likely the top of the isolation cart to ensure instant visibility
The quantity of each item should be included
The drawer location of each item should be included
It can be helpful to include the date when the ISO cart list was previously updated
Visual Aid: Labeling and Cart standardization
Providing photographs of each labeled item could be incredibly helpful especially for newer staff
members.
However, labeled photo binders should be properly updated with
new photos. Old photos should not just be crossed out.
Helpful
Confusing The photo binder is a
suggestion not a requirement. The binder could be stored and used as a meaningful
resource for new or existing staff members. If the ISO cart
is updated often with new items the photo binder may
not be appropriate
Tape:Labeling and Cart Standardization
The utilization of tape labels serves as a quick visual for staff. Without physically opening each drawer the location of specific and necessary items is apparent.
Drawer 1: stethoscopes and disposable thermometer along with iso signs if applicable Drawer 2: gloves (one od each size)Drawer 3: Masks and eye protection (procedure mask, Drawer 4:Gowns
Include item number
