So far, 20 houses have been measured and 10 more are selected. e-ster does not only monitor stand-by losses and electronic equipment, but also the large “white appliances” because this has never been done in Belgium in a representative way.
We have tried hard to find a good mix of different dwellings (houses vs. apartments), family structure (seize, age of the household members) and household income.

Representative of the sample
Random selection of customers based on a database from the
utility. Only customers with electronic telemeters installed are
being considered for monitoring. Customers are selected based
on the range of their annual electricity consumption. Four main
classes of consumption have been defined by the utility, and
the number of customers in each range of consumption to be
analysed has been weighted by the total consumption in each
range.

Brochure: Electric Appliance Energy GuideBrochure: Electric Appliance Energy Guide
Deliverable • An 8 page brochure in each national language of each partner Jun 2008
DescriptionProduction, translation to each national language and issuing of the brochure.
A draft brochure will be released by the middle of March 2008. Then the
partners have two weeks time to send comments and the final brochure should

emissions and the contribution to the EU Kyoto targets.
This brochure will provide households with estimates of energy requirements
and operating costs for electrical appliances commonly found in the homes,
allowing consumers to make more informed electrical equipment buying
decisions.
-Average energy requirements, operating costs and best technology
per appliance
- Typical Annual electric bill (disagregation per appliance)
- Opportunities for saving energy: technological opportunities and
