ULSTER GRAND PRIX
MACAU MOTORCYCLE GRAND PRIX – 52ND EDITIONPeter Hickman was named Man of the Meeting at the Ulster Grand Prix for the second consecutive year after a performance which saw him win both the Supersport and the Superbike race, and take second in the Superstock race.
In the Superstock race it was Dean Harrison, seventh at Macao last year, who clinched victory by just two-tenths of a second from Hickman. Long-time Macao competitor Conor Cummins, fifth at Macao last year, was third. Lee Johnston, eighth in last year’s Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix, finished fifth. Harrison also set a new Superstock lap record on his way to victory.
In the Supersport race, Johnston was second behind Hickman, with Cummins taking the final podium spot. Adam McLean finished fourth, while Michael Sweeney, who has raced four times at Macao, was fifth. Johnston was again runner-up to Hickman in the Superbike race, while Brian McCormack, who last raced at Macao in 2016, was fifth.
Earlier in the week, Manx rider Cummins took his first Ulster Grand Prix victory since 2009, winning the Supersport race. In that opening Supersport race, Cummins was joined on the podium by McLean and Harrison, while Hickman finished fifth.
ISLE OF MAN CLASSIC TTJohn McGuinness, long-time Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix rider and winner in 2001, made an impressive comeback from injury when he returned to racing at the Classic TT on the Isle of Man by winning the Senior Classic TT. McGuinness, who had not raced since the North West 200 in 2017, said after his win: “I never ever thought I’d be able to pull back in to this winner’s enclosure here, but I’ve worked really hard and it feels very special. The Paton was great – it never missed a beat. I so, so enjoyed that. It’s an amazing feeling and we had no problems from the drop of the flag, but it was hard work. It takes it out of you after all the barbecues and pies.”
McGuinness won the Senior Classic TT ahead of Jamie Cowards, with Lee Johnston third.
Johnston won a thrilling Lightweight Classic TT ahead of McLean and Ian Lougher. Dean Harrison was fourth.
The Superbike Classic TT was won by Harrison ahead of familiar Macao faces Horst Saiger and Conor Cummins. Harrison finished more than a minute ahead of Saiger and led all four laps to earn his fourth Classic TT victory.
BRITISH SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIPPeter Hickman is currently sixth in the British Superbike Championship after 16 races, the most recent at Cadwell Park. In the first race, Hickman crossed the line 7th on his Smiths Racing BMW, while the two-time Macao winner finished just shy of the podium in 4th in Sunday’s second race. Four rounds remain in the championship, beginning with a triple-header at Silverstone from September 7-9.
Leon Haslam, son of six-time Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix winner in the 1980’s Ron ‘Rocket’ Haslam, leads the championship.

DTMJoel Eriksson, who competed in last year’s Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix, took his maiden DTM victory in the second night race at Misano, Italy. The Swedish BMW driver is contesting his first season of DTM and won Round 14 ahead of four-time Macao winner Edoardo Mortara in a Mercedes-AMG, and 2015 Macau GT Cup podium finisher René Rast.

MACAU GUIA RACEWTCR – FIA WORLD TOURING CAR CUP PRESENTED BY OSCARO
Following its summer break, the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO is preparing for its final four race weekends of the season.Triple headers in Ningbo and Wuhan in China, and then at Suzuka in Japan, will take place before the series’ season finale as the Macau Guia Race at the Suncity Group 65th Macau Grand Prix.
After 18 races of six rounds, Italian Gabriele Tarquini of BRC Racing Team leads the championship by just two points over Frenchman
Yvan Muller of MRacing – YMR. Although Tarquini has yet to win on the Guia Circuit, he was crowned 2009 FIA World Touring Car Champion in Macao. However, Muller, having raced at Macao for many years, is a familiar face and won twice on the Guia Circuit in 2012 and 2013.
With Tarquini and Muller in a tight contest for the top spot, BRC Racing Team’s Norbert Michelisz lies third in the championship standings. Fourth overall is Yann Ehrlacher of ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport, the nephew of Yvan and the son of Cathy Muller who raced in the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix. Rounding out the top five is Jean-Karl Vernay of Audi Sport Leopard Lukoil Team, second in the 2009 Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix.
During the three races in Slovakia in July, fans had the opportunity to witness a title fight that will only intensify as the season goes down to the wire. In the opening race of the triple-header weekend, Spain’s Pepe Oriola of Campos Racing celebrated his first factory in the new series, finishing ahead of Vernay and Tarquini.
Ahead of the second race on Saturday, Zengő Motorsport’s Norbert Nagy landed his first series pole position for the reverse-grid Race 2. But in the race itself it was Tarquini who secured a fourth victory thus far this season, claiming the series points lead.
The third and final race of the weekend was won by Michelisz as he got away cleanly at the start and pulled away with Aurélien Comte of DG Sport Competition, with a dramatic battle for the
final podium position behind them. At the end of the 13-lap race, it was Frédéric Vervisch of Audi Sport Team Comtoyou who took the final podium position.
