Inside the building, timber replacements can be seen above the chancel arch, though you will note that the extensive re-plastering will form part of the later costs. The recent work has seen the building become watertight, and further damage to the internal structure can now be avoided. Work goes on to raise the further amounts needed to successfully repair the other parts of the structure that have evidence of severe weathering. Please continue to support the fundraising efforts, as there is still much work to be done. St. John’s HIGHAM Appeal ROOF

CommentHigham is a vibrant village. It has just been nominated the BestKept small village in the whole of Lancashire. Just a few weeksback some of the world’s top athletes cycled through our parish,we have a thriving church and community hall. We have anexcellent pub and we organise events and functions all yearround to entertain locals and visitors. We hold the impressiveExhibition and Scarecrow Festival annually. We publish thismagazine four times a year to keep residents informed. Most of the above rely on the goodwill of residents and many doget involved and we thank them for that - it’s part of why wechoose to live in a village. It’s called community. What that community needs now is a rounded person to fill thevacancy for a Parish Councillor. Someone who wants to givesomething back, someone who can get involved in thatcommunity and help the council to run the affairs of the village. In its midst, the current line-up has business people, working andretired, a senior teacher, a school governor and even a helicopterpilot! The new Councillor can be female or male, young or old,the only requirement is for a Higham resident who cares aboutHigham. We would ask anyone interested to attend the nextmeetings listed opposite. Please. HPC
