It is Red Nose Day this Friday, 18th March. So this week’s

competition is to write a funny poem about one of the red

noses: Honkus, Captain Conk or Chucklechomp. It could

be a limerick, which could start:‘There was a red nose

called Honkus…’Or it could be any funny poem.Good luck!

Pop your entries in the competition post box, outside the

hall, by Tuesday 22nd March with your name and class

on the back.

Chess Challenge

After six weeks and some tremendously exciting chess matches between 20 players, the 2011 Norwood Chess Challenge

was won by Jamie Russell, who had been successful in 6 of his 7 games.

Each Friday the children from across Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 played seven matches against each other gaining points for every

win, draw and loss and collecting a range of goodies including badges, mascots and erasers.

The final week saw the deciding games with Jamie emerging as the champion for 2011. Well done to all the children who

took part.

News team Molly Glinn, Hannah Tear, Jamie Russell, Katy Watkinson, Taylor McKenzie & Finn Cromack

After weeks of lunchtime practices, a team of Y5 and Y6 boys and

girls were chosen to represent in the annual tag rugby tournament at

Kew Woods. Once again we were in a very tough group with Kew

Woods A, St. Nicholas and St. Philips and consequently had three close

games, which saw us win, draw and lose.

v Kew Woods A 5-4

Some excellent running from Jaydon, Tom and especially Jamie saw us

rack up tries against the previous winners.

v St. Nicholas 2-2

Excellent tagging from Joe Telford and Amie Blundell were the

highlights.

v St. Philips 3-4

Despite a good team effort against the eventual champions, the

inconsistent decisions of the referee spoilt the game and with it our

chance to go through to the semi-finals.

Team: Tom Stewart, Jaydon Lavelle, Jamie Hough, Aaron Rimmer,

Sam Morgan, Joe Telford, Abi Wright, Elise Bond, Emily Telford and

Amie Blundell.

Norwood B 0 Linaker B 3

A closely fought game was won in

the last 15 minutes when three

Linaker goals gave them a deserved

win despite superb defending.

That our best players were defenders

says much about the team's

performance with Jaime Kelly and

Leon Booth producing some excellent

tackling.

Man of the Match: Jaime Kelly

Laurie Parr Cup Match Report v Larkfield

Congratulations to the Norwood A team who managed to beat the wind and narrow pitch at Larkfield to win 3 - 2 in the

Laurie Parr Cup. Goals from Lucas Thaw and two goals from Tom Langford sealed the victory. This was a great result

considering that Norwood lost to Larkfield 2-0 the previous week,in a league game.

Norwood will play either OLOL or Linaker in the Semi Final.

Man of the Match: Tom Langford.

Team: Aaron Rimmer, Jaydon Lavelle, Jack Wallbank, Jamie Hough, Tom Stewart, Tom Mitchell, Tom Langford, Daniel

Lawrence, Lucas Thaw, Matthew Van-Sprang Rimmer, Ashley Gavan.

PE Kits

We would like to remind parents that all PE kits should be kept in school.

It is essential that items should be clearly marked with your child’s

name and class. Parents should ensure the correct clothing is kept

in school at all times to ensure their child is able to access PE which is a

statutory part of the curriculum.
