A New

Atlantic City?

A new casino, a new slogan (“DoAC”), a new tourism district, andwhat looks like a new path for theEast Coast’s gambling Mecca. After years of waiting, the newRevel Hotel and Casino is open.Revel may be the spark that startsa new fire in Atlantic City. I wouldexpect that the new casino will pullhuge crowds to the city and re-ignite their passion for all the cityhas to offer. The Revel is an enormousentertainment complex locatedright next to Atlantic City’sBoardwalk over-looking the ocean. It seems Revel has every intentionof exploiting the “wow factor”with huge headline acts coming inearly and strong. Beyoncé isscheduled for three dates, May 25,26, and 27, followed by Sugarlandin June. With new bars, nightclubs, avariety of restaurants, an in/outswimming pool, roof-top gardensand more, Revel may placepleasurable amenities on evenfooting with gaming. For me, themany choices and distractionsprovide a very welcome changefrom normal day to day life.Is that not the role of such a fantasydestination? Atlantic City providesthe escape from everyday life withlights and music, fine dining andclubbing, big name entertainmentand ocean views, plus the addedbonus of being so close that we cango as often as we want without aTSA pat-down.Many of us enjoy the glamour anddecadence portrayed byHollywood in “BoardwalkEmpire” or virtually any JamesBond film as he beats the house inMonte Carlo’s best casinos. Livethat glamour now. Let life imitateart, put on your best gown or suit, pull up out front, toss the valet yourkey, make your grand entrance intothis palace, and enjoy all it has tooffer.

Beer CraZy

by Contributing Writer,Nick Gaudio

This week’s beer is AllagashWhite. From Portland, Maine, this Belgian Witbier is one of thebest of its category for domesti-cally brewed beer. It pours acloudy yellow, due to the unfil-tered wheat, with a white, foamyhead. It has an extremely drink-able sweet citrus, clove, andcoriander flavor that goes downjust as smoothly as it hits thetongue. For those unaccustomedto unfiltered wheat beer, do notshy away from Allagash becauseof the cloudiness. On a warmday, one of these served with alemon wedge can be the mostrefreshing beverage choice.
