More American
Than Apple Pie,
Car Shows Are
back.
Nothing is more American than customcars. I bet custom cars get more attentionthan apple pie. Now that winter is over, the streets will fill with hot rods, musclecars, and custom motorcycles.
One of my favorite things about summeris all the car shows. Most car shows arefree and provide hours of lazy dayentertainment. As most of you know, Iam car crazy. I’m also a big motorcyclefan with three custom Harleys taking upspace in my garage. I could go to a caror motorcycle show every-day.
This Thursday night, Collingswood startstheir very popular “Collingswood CruiseNight”. I think it’s great when a townshipputs together a car or bike event.Burlington Township has a verysuccessful bike night. Historic SmithvilleVillage in Galloway puts together manycar shows throughout the season.
The Collingswood event starts April 19’thand continues every third Thursdaythroughout summer. There is live music, food, plenty of hot cars and motorcyclestoo. Admission is free so you can walkaround and look at all the great carswithout spending any money. If you are lucky enough to own a hot rod, muscle car, or exotic car, you can registerto participate in the car show. At the endof the night trophies are awarded. Youcan get more information and see photosfrom previous cruise nights atCollingswood.com.
This weekend you can check out a bigcollection of British Cars on Saturday atHistoric Smithville Village in GallowayTownship. Admission is free plus thereare 60 shoppes and restaurants in thevillage. The weather is supposed to begreat so take a drive to see the cars andwalk around the village. The event ispresented by The British Motor Club ofSouthern New Jersey.
Starting this week, we will publish a listof area car shows in The Society Page. You can get an even bigger list atCruisinnews.us . This site is run by CliffShield. He keeps the site updated andeasy to navigate. If you want your showlisted in The Society Page, just let usknow.
We hope to bring our Aston Martin toCollingswood Thursday night and willdefinitely have it at Smithville Village onSaturday. Hope to see you there.

I have been puzzled for years aboutthe direction major beer brandsmarketing strategy has taken. Whotold them the average beer drinkercares about calorie counting?Maybe I am completely wrong.Maybe I just don’t know enoughpeople that care about calories intheir beer. The fact is, everyone that I ask doesnot care at all about how manycalories their favorite beer has. This is certianly supported by thesudden and significant boom incraft beer sales. Please let me know what youropinion is by votiing in our onlinepoll at SPMag.co.
The Beer CalorieConundrum
Beer CraZy
by Contributing Writer,Nick Gaudio
This week’s beer is a special, limited edition release fromOmmegang (Cooperstown, NY).Cup O Kyndnes is a BelgianStyle Scottish Ale that is onlysold in a 25.4oz buddy bottle, sopick it up wherever you can findit! This Scottish Ale pours anamber color with a tall, light-colored head. It has an aromafully of nutmeg, malt, and someother spices. It has a very thickand creamy mouthfeel due to itshigh carbonation. Its flavor is acombination of smokey andspicey with some yeastiness anda sour aftertaste, common for aBelgian style Ale. Ommegangdoes a great job with combiningtraditional elements of bothScottish and Belgian Ales intoone beer. Enjoy it while you canstill find it!
