Zambora Brockie has claimed the Group 1 Ladbrokes Vic Peters Classic (520m) at Wentworth

Park (October 31) in emphatic style.

Winning by 4 3/4 lengths in a best of the night time of 29.58, Zambora Brockie beat home a

strong field which included runners up Black Bear Lee and Blazin' Bomber.

Jumping smartly from box eight, the son of Nitro Burst x Flying Liddy clocked a first sectional of

5.38, and he was never headed in the run, turning out a back section of 17.86 on the way to the

winning post.

It was a big night for trainer Anthony Azzopardi who also prepared winners Myrniong Plow

(30.06), Uno Suzie (30.02) and Kevin In Bangkok (30.22) on the 11 race card.

Speaking after the $75,000 to the winner Group 1 victory, Azzopardi said he was thrilled for

owner Charlie Azzopardi who was a long time supporter of the industry.

"I'm just so wrapped for everyone involved, the dog went enormous tonight and it is a credit to

the owner Charlie and his family and everyone at my place who work so hard,"

"A trip to Melbourne is on the cards with Zambora Brockie and if he can repeat tonight's efforts

he will go well," Azzopardi said.

Azzopardi also took the time to thank race sponsors Ladbrokes

"Ladbrokes have been such a great supporter of greyhound racing, I know how much they work

with the GBOTA and it is just so great to see their support in events like this as well as great

initiatives such as the Ladbrokes Monthly Medals," Azzopardi added.

Wentworth Park will return to Group racing on Saturday, November 28 with heats of the Group

3 Summer Cup over 720m. The NSW GBOTA wishes all runners the best in the forth coming

Sandown features, especially those from NSW.

Please note Bulli will trial this Sunday Night November 8th with a 6pm start. It was back to the Friday night racing timeslot for Bulli last week with a number of races having multiple chances. It was great to host the large contingent of trainers from the Riverina who ventured down for the Temora final with Wagga trainer John Hartley getting the spoils with Our Jack. In the evenings distance race Ernest Borg was an upset winner with Spring Gate. Visiting Orange trainer Trevor Jones kicked the meeting off with a strong win of his charge Zipping Bianca. Jenny Brown finally got the cash with Jenmar Blue after a string of placing’s in the Ladbrokes 1300 series. Other heat winners in four keenly contested heats were Destiny’s Dynamo for Susan Sundstrom, Keira icon for Robert Sullivan and Sweetwater Boy for Mark Wilcox who took training honours on the night after his grand Greyhound Knocka’s Return won earlier in the night. Mary Wright broke a bit of a drought at Bulli saluting with Dark Magnum and in a thrilling finish Star Torana prevailed in the last stride for Shaun Evans.
