Issue No: 12 16th December 2020
Year 5 and Foxes enjoyed meeting their buddies before the Christmas
holidays this week. Foxes had made some festive decorations for
Year 5, and Year 5 had made a Christmas card for them. All children
enjoyed seeing each other (socially distanced) before
Christmas.
News from Music The Masked Singer Live Final got off to a fantastic
start with the first group performing ‘I Wish It Could Be Christmas
Everyday!’ The classes watching on Teams then had to vote for who
they thought was the child behind the mask. Group 2 then sang ‘All
I Want for Christmas Is You’, with voting continuing to take place.
Whilst Mrs Irwin received and counted all the votes, both year
groups performed a masked dance before the results were announced.
Sadly, Oliver, Lottie and Alex received the most votes so were out
first. In 3rd place was Will, 2nd place was Matty and the winner of
The Masked Singer 2020, with only 20 votes across the school, was
Scarlett! Special mention must go to Jacob S and Georgie who were
reserves and narrowly missed out on a place in the final. Well done
to everyone and a big thank you to my colleagues who helped with
the dances, voting, filming, music, mask designs and IT
logistics!
House Football and Netball
Last Friday saw the first competitive sport Moorlands has been able
to play since March and it was undertaken with such fantastic
teamwork and support that it proved to be hugely successful. It is
clear that the children have missed the opportunity to play
competitive sport, and all that comes from being part of a team.
Both the football and netball were hotly contested, with the U9
netball needing extra time to decide the winner between the
strength of Palin and the skill of Sharman! The final results were:
U9 Netball Palin, Sharman, Adams U9 football Palin, Sharman, Adams
U11 Netball Adams, Palin, Sharman U11 Football Adams, Palin,
Sharman The points will be added onto the end of year totals, going
towards the House Cup. Well done to the House captains for
organsing the teams and making sure that all of KS2 had the
opportunity to represent their House. Year 1 and 2 had lots of fun
on Wednesday morning making mince pies! They each had a turn
rolling out the pastry and filling the pastry case with
mincemeat.
Year 1 had brilliant fun this week designing and painting their own
bauble! They all did a great job painting neatly and staying within
the lines!
The Reception class elf ‘Eddie” has been making lots of mischief in
our classroom, hiding in various places for the children to find.
He has also brought us lots of important messages such as making
sure we wash our hands!
The children have really enjoyed making up their own humorous words
to the ’Twelve days of Christmas’ and we have been very busy
practicing this song. We hope you have as much fun watching our
Christmas video as we did in making it.
In between practicing our Christmas songs, the children have been
busy reading Christmas stories, making Christmas tree decorations,
writing cards for our buddies, wrapping presents, baking
gingerbread biscuits and learning from festive themed maths games.
We hope you like and use the annual calendar We are so proud of how
the children have adapted to such a fun and busy time!
We hope you like your seasonal calendars for the new year, and the
cards and crafts children have made!
Year 4 have enjoyed baking Christmas biscuits for their families
and a very muddy walk in The Hollies!
Year 6 have done some excellent projects connected with their WWII
project and presented their findings to each other this week.
