Thanks so much for the scholarship. I really appreciate all your love and support these 18 years! I know the scholarship will be put to good use as I start at Stephen F. Austin in the Fall!
Thanks again, Taryn Smith
Dear Jason & Church Family,
Words cannot express how much I appreciate the Bible and $300 that you presented to me. I am so glad to have such a kind and caring Christian Family.
Again, thanks and God Bless, Dustin Wallace
Dear Members of Sulphur Springs First United Methodist Church,
Thank you so much for the gift of $300. The money will be very beneficial as I head off to college. Thank you for being such a loving and supporting church throughout the years. I appreciate all that FUMC has given me.
Love, Jessica Cowley
FUMC Sulphur Springs,
Thank you all so much for the $300 scholar-ship and the Bible. You have also made a huge impact on my life by accepting me into your family and for this I thank you.

PPPPETEETEETEETE’’’’SSSS P P P PLACELACELACELACE It is hard to know where one’s “place” is. Well, they say you can’t “go home”. I’m not at all sure about that. Let’s give it a try and see what happens – OK? By the way – we’re coming home – July 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want you to know that Maggie and I are really looking forward to the move. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time in Mount Vernon – the people are wonderful. But we are anxious to get back to Sulphur Springs. It feels right. We are looking forward to a long stay. I’ve been in and out of SSFUMC many times over the past three years and each time I’m there it seems like I belong there.
It is hard to say what the future holds for all of us but from my vantage point it looks really good. If you are as excited as we are – it will be awesome. I’m looking forward to growth. Growth in numbers, programs, most important to me is growth in our mission and ministry efforts, and of course growth in the spirit of our church community. The Spirit is active and always present, with your help it will move us to greater things – Kingdom things; things that will grow God’s King-dom here on earth; things that will bring peace and God’s love to all the people we touch.
We are God’s instruments of healing, growth, love, joy, peace, etc. God chose us to act through. I am certain that as we open our hearts to his will, his will will be done. As you know, God answers prayer with people – you are someone’s answer to a prayer. Thanks be to God.
We are coming home. Thank you for opening the doors of the church to us. Thank you also for opening your hearts to us. See you in July.
Grace and Peace, Pete and Maggie
DDDDEBBIEEBBIEEBBIEEBBIE’’’’SSSS D D D DARINGARINGARINGARING AAAADDDDVVVVEEEENNNNTTTTUUUURRRREEEE In the midst of the summer activities and heat, I really don’t feel daring. I’d rather just float through the day’s encounters and activities. It is the “watch the world go by” approach. Yet God is at work in me and in our church. God is doing a new thing in us and through us. I do wonder what the new creation will look like. I’m excited about the possibilities and probably a little fearful about being changed. The daring adventure for me and for us is in relinquishing what we want for what God desires for us. The adventure begins when we join in with what Jesus said in the Garden of Geth-semane, “Not my will but thy will be done.” Let’s go on God’s adventure for us together.

That’s right, FUMC staff members Jennifer Philo & Adrienne Lilley are going to be behind bars for good! They will be serving their sentences on July 7th at the MDA Lock-Up. They need your help to raise their bail to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. A “bail bucket” is located outside Fellowship Hall if you would like to contribute to their release. Money raised at the MDA Lock-Up helps pay for research, support sessions, therapy consultation, professional fees, MDA summer camp fees, and much more.

Mission Possible Kids
Wednesdays in July Pre-K: 9:00-11:00 / K-5th: 9:00-12:00
Kids will take on a new mission each week, as they become agents for God. Missions will help people in our community and let our kids know that they can make a difference. Cost is just $20 for the entire month!
If you would like to help with MPKids, please let Adrienne know. We need a few parents and youth to help make it a great experi-ence for our children!
Children’s Camp July 19-23 at Bridgeport
For children completing 3rd, 4th or 5th grade. A $50 deposit is required at registration. Total cost is $265 per camper, and we will be planning a fundraiser to help with the cost for those who want to participate. Children’s Camp is 5 days of games, worship, and fun! Talk to Adrienne to get your child signed up as soon as possible.

Children and adults alike had a wonderful time exploring Nazareth at VBS. From the Marketplace, to Fun and Games, to Celebration, and to everyone’s favorite, Mary’s House, children were immersed in the Nazareth ex-perience and saw for themselves what it might have been like for Jesus as a child. They learned that in some ways he was just like them—he had a home and a family, he went to church and school, and he even played games. They also learned that Jesus is the true Son of God. Here are some of the things the children said they
learned this week: “God is perfect”, “I can ask God for forgiveness”, “the church is our home”, and one little girl said “Jesus died for our sins and he’s not going to give them back”.
The children also raised money throughout the week to pay for 150 backpacks, which they hand dyed and colored, bookmarks and other supplies to send to needy children in South America.
On the last day of VBS, one of our children gave me a big hug and said “Thank you for teaching me about Jesus.” That thank you be-
longs to all of the wonderful volunteers who made this week possible. There are over 100 names on the list below of people who were
Tribe Leaders, Marketplace shopkeepers, Fun and Games leaders, song leaders, providers of food, registration workers, decorators, and
Family Night helpers…you ALL made a difference in the lives of our children this week.

Sulphur Springs Work Camp . . . HUGE Sulphur Springs Work Camp . . . HUGE Sulphur Springs Work Camp . . . HUGE Sulphur Springs Work Camp . . . HUGE SUCCESS!!!SUCCESS!!!SUCCESS!!!SUCCESS!!! 25 Houses, 400+ Volunteers, Hundreds of Supporters, 3 Days, the Power of the Holy Spirit . . . absolutely Amazing!! I really don’t have words to describe how incredible a feat this event was. Simply put, it’s a miracle in our own backyard. SSWC has now painted 82 houses in this community in just 5 years. That’s 82 homeowners and families whose lives have been touched and changed by the power of the Holy Spirit and the willing spirit of so many volunteers.
Not only is this neighbor serving neighbor, but it has even be-come so well known that groups from outside the county and even the state are traveling to bring their kids here to Sulphur Springs to participate and learn about the program so that they might take it back to their own communities. We had groups of teenagers from Dallas, Oklahoma, and even as far away as Mis-souri participate in this year’s event.
It has just been incredible to watch the Lord bless and grow this event and touch the lives of so many people here in our com-munity. And as much of a blessing as it is to those homeown-ers, I can assure you the lives of the teenagers and all the vol-unteers serving are blessed tenfold!
So to each and every one of you that donated your time, food, ladders, tools, money and prayers, a HUGE, HUGE THANKS!! Thank you for allowing the Spirit to work through you to bring so many blessings to so many in need.

great week as we look behind the scenes of some of our favor-ite movies and see how even there, God’s spirit is moving.
I look forward to sharing in next month’s Spire about all the fun and adventure only camp can supply!
