The history of the Internet began with thedevelopment of computers in the 1950s.

This began with point to pointcommunication between mainframecomputers and terminals expanded to point-to-

point connections between computers and thenearly research into packet switching.

The Internet was created in the Unites States by

the "United States Department ofDefense Advanced Research Projects Agency"(known as DARPA). It was first connected inOctober, 1969. The World Wide Web wascreated at CERN in Switzerland in 1989 bya British(UK) man named Tim berners-lee.
