Attendance

Certain events during Greek Week 2013 will be based solely on attendance. As we are a diverse Greek

community, there will be a unique system in place by which points are awarded.

Attendance Incentive:

1-49% of active membership in attendance= 50 points

50-74% of active membership in attendance= 100 points

75-99% of active membership in attendance= 150 points

100% of active membership in attendance= 200 points

Double attendance incentive:

1-49% of active membership in attendance= 100 points

50-74% of active membership in attendance= 200 points

75-99% of active membership in attendance= 300 points

100% of active membership in attendance= 400 points

The “active membership in attendance” will be based on those who are available for the event. This means

that those who are on the “excused list” for events will not be figured into this percentage.

*Percentages will be rounded up or down to the nearest whole number.

Excused List/ Class Schedule Accommodations:

Members will be eligible for an excused absence if they have class during the time of an event.

Note: Work will not count as an excused absence.

The president or appointed representative of each fraternity/sorority is expected to submit all

excused absences for ALL Greek Week events by Friday, March 8.

When submitted, the excused list shall be broken down by day and by event.

Members that are on the excused list will not be able to check-in for points at the event.

If the excused list is turned in past the deadline, you will receive a 75 point deduction from your

attendance point total.

If no excuses are turned in at all, every member listed as active on your roster will be counted for

each attendance based event.

All participants must be available for dress rehearsal between 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4 in the UC Theater. Dress rehearsal spots will be filled on a first-come-first served basis starting at 8am on Friday, March 8.

All performing groups (judged/non-judged) must submit a list with the chosen song(s) (Title and Artist), a roster of performing members, costume ideas, theme, and prop ideas must be submitted to Brittany Childs no later than Friday, March 8.

o Songs are chosen based upon when they are turned in (i.e. if more than one group turns in the same song, the group that turned it in first gets to keep it pending approval from Greek Coordinator). Groups can turn in up to 10 songs.

o Once the submitted items have been turned in and approved, all changes must be approved by the Greek Week Committee. This includes adding and removing songs from your list.

o Songs that are chosen must be the “clean” version. No exceptions.

All performing groups must submit a final copy of their CD at dress rehearsal. Absolutely no changes can be made to the CD after this point unless approved by the Greek Week Committee.

Each organization has a budget of $150 to use for costumes props, etc. if they choose. All props must be made/purchased/owned by fraternity/sorority.

o Copies of receipts used to purchase items for Lip Sync must be submitted to Brittany Childs no later than Thursday, April 4 (bring the copies to your dress rehearsal).

o Materials already in the organization’s possession may be used.

All costumes must be worn appropriately and cover all necessary parts of body (no bikinis, overly tight-fitting garments, etc.)

o All necessary undergarments must be worn.

No balloons, large signs, or anything else that could potentially block those behind you will be allowed in the audience.

Inclusion of profanity, lewd conduct, obscene gestures or scenes, vulgar themes, inappropriate dancing, and unacceptable behavior will result in immediate disqualification from the event. NO EXCEPTIONS.

No contact between performers and judges/spectators is allowed. o This includes but is not limited to physical contact, distribution of props (candy,

beads, etc.)

No glitter, confetti, etc. are allowed (i.e. very small items that are difficult to pick up).

If any items are thrown into the air, they must land on the stage (must not float into the audience). The stage/performing area must be cleaned up immediately following the conclusion to that performance, all debris cleaned from floor. These items must be approved by the Greek Week Committee.

No one is allowed “backstage” before their allotted time slot.

Small props are allowed onstage (anything that can be carried by hand), but all items must be cleared off of the stage after the group performs.

Teams will be given 10 minutes to set up, perform, and remove all props from the stage.

o In this 10 minute time frame, the actual “act” shall last no longer than 5 minutes.

Remember that this is a show, so make sure performers are ready to start on time and are available for the entirety of the event. The show order is random so your performers should be prepared to perform at any time.

The Greek Week Steering Committee reserves the right to disqualify any group that does not follow the performance guidelines or rules.

*This is at the discretion of the Greek Coordinator, faculty/staff representative, judges,

and/or Greek Week Steering Committee members.
