What’s an App?

All the icons on your iTouch, iPhone & iPad

There are over 10,000 apps Download them from iTunes store Some are free (lite) Available apps are constantly

changing

Let’s Start at the Very Beginning… What you need:

Computer and an iPod Touch or iPad iTunes account and password

Your iPod is married to your computer A method of payment Synching cord and/or charger

Do not synch your iPod with a computer unless it is the original computer that it was first synched with

Can only synch with one iTunes account

Let’s Start at the Very Beginning… What you need: Access to a Wireless Network for:

Downloading new apps E-mailing Using Safari Using YouTube Checking the weather Google Earth Apps that require internet connection Updating apps

Downloading Apps Directly onto your iPod Touch when connected

wirelessly. Need:

iTunes Password Connected to a Wireless Network:

Settings General Wifi Choose your network Add password if needed (can be found on

back of wireless box) Using your iTunes account on your computer and then

synching your iPod Touch

Downloading Apps on iTouch

1. Touch App Store icon2. Touch Search and type app name or

touch Categories for a general search3. Touch Desired App4. Touch Install5. Type Password6. App will download onto device7. Find and touch the icon to open it

Using an iTunes Gift Card to Pay for Apps

1. Touch App Store

2. Touch Featured

3. Scroll down

4. Touch Redeem

5. Type in code

Organizing Your Apps Touch and hold down an app The apps begin to shake Hold down and move your app Touch your Main button when done

*OS 4 drag an icon onto another to create a folder (not available on the iPad)

To Delete an App You can delete an app directly on your

iPod Touch but it will still be on your iTunes account so you can re-load it

To delete on your iPod Touch: Hold down an app so all begin to shake Touch the “X” Touch “delete” Touch “No thanks” Touch the Main button

Updates Periodically app makers will create

updates for their apps A red number by App Store icon

indicates updates available Touch App Store icon Touch Updates (on bottom right) Touch Update All Type in iTunes password

Setting up E-mail Account

Touch E-mail icon Touch E-mail provider

Name= Your name Address= E-mail address Password= E-mail password Touch Save

To check your e-mail

Touch the “Mail” icon Touch Inbox if needed To see an e-mail touch it To delete: touch trash can or in list

mode swipe finger right to left on right side of e-mail and touch “delete”

Tidbits Can have up to 11 pages of 16 apps per

page or with OS 4 you can increase the number of apps by organizing in folders

Touch Main button twice to get to first page “main screen”; touch Main button once to search for an app

not have video camera; can use iFlip or Nano

Videotaping a Task Videotape the task

Cell phone or Flip camera so you don’t have to convert the video file to work on an iPod

If you use a video camera you will have to download “any video converter” to change convert the file

Transfer the task to your iPod Synch with the original computer your

iPod was first synched with or E-mail the file to the address on your iPod

Open the e-mail Touch the video to open it Touch the video again and touch Save Video
