BILL NO.3 : SMALL POWER AND LIGHTING INSTALLATION

A INSTALLATION - GENERAL

The following shall apply to all material and equipment

supplied and installed on site and shall conform to

specifications contained in this document.

A.1 WIRING CHANNEL

Galvanised channel complete with metal covers mounted and fixed at

intervals not exceeding 1.5m. Channel to be complete with all splices,

bends, T-Pieces, end pieces, off-set supports, brackets, hanger rods

and anchors

(Type O-line or similar manufactured channel) as specified and shown

on drawings.

A.2 CONDUITS & DRAW BOXES

PVC conduits chased into brickwork, fixed in partitioning, roof spaces,

surface on concrete or brickwork to be complete with saddles,

couplings and terminations to drawboxes. Draw boxes to be PVC

type.

All cutting and terminations to be included.

A.3 LIGHT FITTINGS

Supply, take delivery of, store, install and connect all light fittings

complete with lamps, gear, etc. as specified and indicated on the

drawings. All fluorescent lamps to be Colour 21 unless indicated

otherwise.

A.4 CONDUCTORS

SANS approved PVC insulated copper conductors drawn into conduit,

installed in wiring trunking or power skirting.

A.5 SOCKET OUTLETS

16A, 3-pin switched socket outlets flush mounted in draw boxes

complete with cover plates shall, unless specified otherwise, be of the

"Crabtree" type or similar approved which fit into standard outlet

boxes.

A.6 LIGHT SWITCHES

16A light switch flush mounted in draw boxes complete with cover

plates shall, unless specified otherwise, be of the " Crabtree" range

Or similar approved which fit into standard outlet boxes.

A.7 DISTRIBUTION BOARDS

Take Delivery of, handling, storage & installation of Distribution

Boards complete as in accordance with the specification and

drawings.

A.8 ISOLATORS

Isolators surface/flush mounted in 100 x 100mm x 50mm draw boxes

complete with coverplate as specified and indicated on drawings.

Isolators installed internally shall, unless specified otherwise, be of

the "Crabtree" type or similar approved.

All isolators installed externally shall be of the "Gewiss" rotary

lockable type or similar approved and rated at a minimum of IP65.

A.9 LOW VOLTAGE CABLES

600/1000V PVC/SWA/PVC Cables with copper conductors to SANS

1507 installed in ground, in sleeves, fixed vertically or horizontally on

cable trays in accordance with the specification and drawings. All

fixings to be included.

A.10 TERMINATIONS

Termination of LV cable to be as specified including connection of

conductors, cable lugs, captive cone glands, shrouds, etc. for the

relevant cable sizes.

A.11 POWER SKIRTING - GENERAL

Two compartment PVC type power skirting installed on walls or work

tops complete with corners, splices and caps and fixings as specified

and shown on drawings. Power skirting is to be of the "OBO O Line"

type (Colour to be approved)

Covers for Socket outlets shall be provided complete for outlets as

specified & indicated.

PRELIMINARIES

BUILDING AGREEMENT AND PRE;IMINARIES

The JBCC (Edition 6.1, dated March 2014) prepared by the joint

Building contracts Committee shall be the applicable building

agreement, amended as hereiafter described .

SUPPLEMENTARY PREAMBLES

View site

Before submitting this tender the contractor shall visit the site and

satisfy himself as to the nature and extent of the work to be done

and the value of the materials contained in the buildings or portions

of the buildings to be repaired. No claim for any variations of the

contract sum in respect of the nature and extent of the work or of

inferior or damaged materials will be entertained.

General

Water supply pipes and other piping that may be encountered and

found necessary to disconnect or cut, shall be effectually stopped

off or grubbed up and removed, and any new connections that may

be necessary shall be made with proper fittings, to the satisfaction

of the principal agent.

Removing of material shall include loading and carting away to a

dump-site located by the contractor. It shall include any dumping

fees etc.

Damage to persons or property

The contractor will be held responsible for any damage to persons

or property and for the safety of the structures and he is to allow for

protecting and indemnifying persons using the existing buildings

from injury by virtue of the building operations, including providing

necessary barriers, signs, etc.

Making good

Prices for all works described throughout the Bills of Quantities are

to include for making good, whether specifically mentioned or not in

all trades except Painting, unless otherwise described.

PRELIMINARIES

Please consider the location, access and the notes below when

pricing this document.

Note the following:

* There is not water available on site (due to water contrats service

provide must supply their own water).

* There are currently no toilet facilities available, service provider

must provide their toilet facilities.

Should the contractor selete option A in terms of clause 3.2.1 in the

contract data-contractor to Employer for the purpose of adjustiment

of these preliminaries, each item priced is to be allocated to one or

more of the three catagories " F,V,T" as the case may be where

F= An amount which shall not be varied

V= An amount which shall be varied in proportion to the cantract

value as compared with the contract sum

T= An amount which shall be varied in proportion to the

construction period as compared to the intial construction period

excluding revisions to the construction is not entitled to adjustment

of the contract valie in terms of the agreement.
