In addition to the listed events, the MSD Bands participated in a Faculty Performance, Pops & Pies, Give Back Day, Football Games, Homecoming Parade, Country Hills & Eagle Ridge Ele- mentary Schools Halloween Parades, Vietnam Veterans Wall Ceremony, Coral Springs Holi- day Parade, Winter Concert, Pre-MPA Concert, clinic visits by guest conductors, Freshman Curriculum Night, Inagakuen Japanese Band clinic/concert, and the Spring Concert! Flanagan Falcon Sound Invitational 2nd Runner-up out of 34 bands (Score: 79.25) John I Leonard Invitational 4th Place (Score: 83.67) FBA District Marching Band MPA Straight Superior ratings (26 th year) Park Vista FMBC Regional Grand Champion Band (Score: 92.7) State Marching Band Championship BEST Music and BEST Color Guard Class 5A 1st Runner-up It’s been a year of extraordinary achievements! FBA District & State Concert Band MPA Symphonic Band & Wind Symphony earned Straight Superior ratings at District and State Concert MPA. This is the first time that Stoneman Douglas has had two bands qualify for State MPA and the first time that the school has earned two Otto J. Kraushaar Awards, the top FBA award in Florida for a perfect record of Superior ratings from every judge throughout an en- tire school year. Stoneman Douglas was 1 of only 4 high schools in the state to have two bands earn Straight Superiors at the state level. 2015-2016 YEAR IN REVIEW MSD PRIDE! FBA District Solo & Ensemble MPA 199 Superior medals earned! FBA State Solo & Ensemble MPA 23 Solos and 13 Ensembles performed earning 103 Superior medals. 5 earned Superiors w/ Distinction!
