N R C C S J - S L" Welcome! We’re so glad to have you with us here at New Roads. We are a community of two parishes, St. Joseph and St. Luke,

working together to help people encounter God and grow in their relationship with God. We believe that faith is a journey. No matter where you are on the journey, you are welcome to join us anytime at New Roads.

We believe that true joy and fulfillment are found in knowing Christ, and we want to share that joy with everyone. This is a great time to come back, or to keep coming back, to be a part of the incredible story God wants to write with our lives.

Online giving is the most convenient way for you to make your offertory contributions. It allows you to plan ahead and make donations based on your personal budget. And it helps you support the parish even when you cannot attend Mass. With the summer vacation season approaching, it couldn’t be more convenient. If you’re already using online giving, thank you! If you’re not and you want to get started, simply go to www.newroadscatholic.org. There are multiple methods to make donations, including electronic debit from your bank account, credit cards, or debit cards. It takes seconds to set up, and it’s completely secure. If you have questions about online giving, please contact Lou Fabrizio, Finance & Operations Manager, at [email protected].

In our

thoughts and prayers

With all of you, we are praying for the victims

of the shooting in Orlando, for all who lost

loved ones, for all the wounded, and for the

LGBT community. If you would like to join

with others in praying for healing and for an

end to violence, please join us for a few

moments of silent prayer for peace as part of

our weekly peace vigil, from 6 to 7:00 p.m. at

St. Joseph, and every Wednesday

night from 6 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Luke.

Collaborative Books Group

New Roads Catholic Community Collaborative Books Group meets the first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in St. Joseph Parish Library. Here’s what we’re. Please mark your calendars and get ready for some GREAT discussions! Read as much or a little as you like. Best blessings and happy reading! All are welcome.

July 11 & August 1 – The Betrothed by Alessandro Manzoni. Set in Lombardy during the Spanish occupation of the late 1620s, Manzoni’s novel is the account of two peasant lovers, Lucia and Renzo, prevented from marrying by a petty tyrant, who has his eye on Lucia and by threats forces the parish priest to call off the wedding. Forced to flee and separate, they face many dangers, including plague, famine, and imprisonment. First published in 1825, this narrative is an exploration of love, power, and faith presented in a whirling panorama of seventeenth-century Italian life. Manzoni’s classic is a favorite of Pope Francis and is especially rich in contrasts between good clerics and bad.

Father’s Day Prayer

God our Father,

you govern and protect your people

and shepherd them with a father’s love.

You place a father in a family as a sign of your

love, care, and constant protection.

May fathers everywhere be faithful to the

example shown in the Scriptures: steadfast

in love, forgiving transgressions, sustaining

the family, caring for those in need.

Give your wisdom to fathers that they

may encourage and guide their children.

Keep them healthy so they may support a family.

Guide every father with the Spirit of your love

that they may grow in holiness and draw

their family ever closer to you.

Amen.

School is coming to an end and all our

minds may be filled with summer plans,

but here at New Roads, we’re also thinking

about next year and where our community

is headed. In our current message series,

“Trailblazing,” we’re talking about how

we’re working to become a different kind of

church, a church focused on helping

people know Jesus Christ and grow as his

disciples, especially people who feel far

from God. Be sure to join us for week 2

this Sunday, when we’ll share some

specific elements of this vision; in

particular, the ways we want to use music

and message to attract those who don’t

come to church right now, and to help all

of us grow as disciples. You can hear the

message this weekend at Saturday’s 4:00

p.m., Sunday’s 8:30,10:00, and 11:00a.m.,

or 5:30 p.m. Masses, or visit our Web

site on Monday to watch the message

online. (www.newroadscatholic.org)

Parents with kids 0-5 years old are invited to join us for a casual, drop-in playgroup that gathers every Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Come join us for the whole time or for part of the time, depending on your kids’ nap schedule(s)! This group is open to everyone, so if you have a neighbor or friend with young ones, invite them along!

The playgroup will meet at St. Joseph (130 Common St, Belmont). Park in the upper parking lot, enter through the double glass doors, and follow signs to the Tiny Disciples room. Questions? Contact Kathy O’Leary ([email protected]).
