(First of a series of art- icles presented in the in- terest of reminding 111711D-

WARD MARINE readers of the values they receive as mem- bers of the finest fighting organization in the world-- the United States Marine Corps.)

F ost of us begin to gripe or at least smile when someone suggests shipping over, but do we . really mean it? Deep down inside, that is?

Of course not Not when we begin to count the

Iriany benefits we receive as Marines that we would not receive as civi- lians.

The economic value alone in shipping over is enough to make a Leatherneck think twice before leaving the Corps to try his luck in the cut-throat civilian world.

First of all there's the cash. Depending oil your rank you get a specified amount of money every two weeks. You know it's coming, you know how much it will be.That's more than a great many people in the world can for themselves. And your job is secure. There is no fear of a wage cut, and you don't have to worry about being fired.

You may think this is less money than you are worth. But have you ever counted in your board and- lod- ging with the Corps. These cost a great deal on the "outside" as any- one who has cut himself from our service can testify. And the food is always good, nourishing and well

Iipreparcd. It is tastily served in lan c , well-decorated dinning rooms in the many harinc establishments around the world. Even in battle, you can count on wholsome, nourish- ing food.
