Registration for classes next year Begin thinking about what classes you would like to take

next year. Talk with your teachers about their recommendations.

If you sign up to take an AP course, you are responsible for completing the summer work that is due on when you return to school in August.

Schedule changes will be minimal so plan your classes carefully!

Registration will begin in February.

Credit Recovery

If you have failed a course and need to retake it, there are some options for credit recovery: Summer school Faith Academy

Credit recovery options are expensive so plan accordingly!!

Please see a counselor for more information.

PSAT

The PSAT/NMSQT assesses the critical reading, mathematics, and writing skills students need for college and beyond.

It provides detailed feedback on skills, access to scholarships and personalized online tools, and excellent practice for the SAT.

All 10th graders take the PSAT in October. 11th graders can re-take the PSAT for a small charge.

College Entrance Exams/Tests

S.A.T. – www.collegeboard.org A.C.T. – www.actstudent.org ASSET/COMPASS

Most public two-year colleges and technical schools in Georgia (UNG requires SAT/ACT)

When should you sign up to take the ACT/SAT? Usually during the Winter/Spring of your Junior

year.

What is the difference between the ACT and the SAT?

ACT questions tend to be more straightforward The SAT has a stronger emphasis on vocabulary The ACT has a science section, the SAT does not

Simply tests your reading and reasoning skills when given a set of facts The ACT tests more advanced math concepts

But not necessarily harder because the questions are more straightforward The ACT writing test is optional on test day, but required by

many schools. The SAT has a required writing portion

The SAT is broken up into more sections The ACT is more of a “big picture” exam

schools are more concerned with your composite score rather than each section
