Das MACIE ist eine wissenschaftliche Einrichtung des Fachbereichs Wirtschaftswissenschaften der Philipps-Universität Marburg. Die Organe der Forschungsstelle sind das Direktorium und die Mitgliederversammlung. Im Jahr 2017 hatte MACIE vierzehn Mitglieder. Die Mitglieder wählen das vierköpfige Direktorium aus ihrer Mitte.

2 Aktivitäten im Jahr 2017

Interdisziplinäre Tagung zu Platonischen und modernen Perspektiven auf Institutionen, 2. - 4. März

Am 2. - 4. März 2017 fand die von den AGs Mikroökonomie (Prof. Dr. Evelyn Korn) und Gräzistik (Prof. Dr. Sabine Föllinger) organisierte Tagung „Von besten und zweitbesten Regeln: Platonische und aktuelle Perspektiven auf individuelles und staatliches Wohlergehen“ statt. Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler aus der Philologie, Alten Geschichte, Philosophie und Ökonomie kamen zusammen, um zu untersuchen in welchem Verhältnis Platonische und moderne ökonomische Zugangsweisen stehen. Wir danken allen Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern für die erkenntnisreichen Vorträge und die intensiven Diskussionen.

Workshop zu angewandter Mikroökonomik, 25. - 26. Mai

Mit Gästen aus Bonn, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt und Trier fand ein anregender Workshop zu Themen der angewandten Mikroökonomik und Institutionenökonomik statt. Der Workshop wurde zum zweiten Mal in Folge von Prof. Dr. Tim Friehe organisiert. Im kommenden Frühjahr ist wieder ein Workshop geplant.

5th Annual Conference of the German Law and Economics Association, 21. - 22. Juli

Prof. Dr. Tim Friehe organisierte das Event und lud internationale Gäste nach Marburg ein. Die in der Konferenz behandelte ökonomische Analyse ist von zentraler Bedeutung für die Institutionenökonomie.

Renewable Energy and Development Summer School 2017 (CNMS), 21.- 28. August

Vom 21. - 28. August 2017 veranstaltete die Forschungsgruppe Wirtschaft des Nahen und Mittleren Ostens in Kooperation mit der Universität Teheran, der Tarbiat Modares Universität und der Ferdowsi Universität Mashhad, eine Sommerschule mit iranischen und deutschen Studierenden.

Internationales Iran Forum, 25. August

Am letzten Tag der Renewable Energy and Development Summer School 2017 veranstaltete die Arbeitsgruppe „Wirtschaft des Nahen und Mittleren Osten“ ein Forum mit einer großen Bandbreite an Vorträgen über die politische Ökonomie Irans. Gäste aus England, Iran und

Deutschland dozierten über ihre aktuelle Forschung und tauschten sich mit den Studierenden aus.

Workshop „Climate Change and Sustainability”, 7. November

Internationale und nationale Gäste hielten Vorträge zur Ökonomie des Klimawandels und möglichen individuellen und staatlichen Handlungsmaßnahmen. Organisiert wurde der Workshop von der Arbeitsgruppe „Nachhaltige Nutzung natürlicher Ressourcen“.

Preis „Lehre@Philipp“

Die AG Institutionökonomie erhielt im Ideenwettbewerb „Lehre@Philipp“ eine Auszeichnung für die Einführung von Feedbackmethoden im Kurs „Introduction to Institutional Economics“.

Lehrpreis 2017

Dr. Enrico Böhme wurde für seine Vorlesung: „Topics in Institutional Economics“ mit dem Lehrpreis des Fachbereichs Wirtschaftswissenschaften ausgezeichnet.

Preis für das beste Paper am Fachbereich Wirtschaftswissenschaften 2017

JProf. Oscar Stolper erhielt den „best paper award“ für seinen Beitrag zur Forschung an Finanzberatung bei Rentenversicherungen mit seiner Publikation „It takes two to Tango: Household’s response to financial advice and the role of financial literacy“. Der Artikel ist im Journal of Banking and Finance zu lesen.

Preis für den besten Nachwuchswissenschaftler am Fachbereich Wirtschafts-wissenschaften 2017

Dr. Hannes Rusch erhielt den „best young researcher award“ für sein Paper “The Logic of Animal Intergroup Conflict: A Review”. Der Artikel wurde im Journal of Economic Behaviour and Organization veröffentlicht.

EURAM Best Paper Award 2017

Daniel Powell präsentierte den Artikel „Agency Costs of Founding Family Firms: Evidence from the Marginal Value of Cash” auf der 17. European Academy of Management Conference an der Strathclyde Universität in Glasgow, Schottland. Das gemeinsam mit Prof. Dr. Marc Steffen Rapp geschriebene Paper wurde zum besten Paper der Kategorie SIG Family Business Research gekürt.

Expert Panel über „New Developments in European Corporate Governance”

Prof. Dr. Marc Steffen Rapp nahm an einer Podiumsdiskussion zu „New Developments in European Corporate Governance“ teil. Die von der FMA organisierte Veranstaltung fand im Rahmen der 2016 FMA Europe Conference an der Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki, Finnland statt.

Forschungsaufenthalt am EUROLAB

JProf. Seo-Young Cho erhielt ein Stipendium für einen Forschungsbesuch am EUROLAB bei GESIS (Leibniz Institut für Sozialwissenschaften) in Köln. Dort konnte sie an ihrem Projekt über Geschlechterunterschiede von sozialem Kapital im Cyberspace forschen.

Außerplanmäßige Professur an der Namibian University of Science and Technology

Prof. Dr. Michael Kirk wurde zum außerplanmäßigen Professor der Namibian University of Science and Technology (NUST) ernannt. Die kommenden drei Jahre wird er die Abteilung Land and Property Science unterstützen, indem er neue Strategien zur Internationalisierung von Master und PhD Programmen entwirft.

World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa

Prof. Farzanegan reiste als Teil von Frau Ursula von der Leyens Delegation nach Jordanien. Auf dem World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa diskutierte Prof. Farzanegan über die Situation Irans nach den Wahlen.

Tafeln zur Erinnerung an Karl Paul Hensel

Die Doris und Dr. Michael Hagemann-Stiftung hat dem Marburg Centre for Institutional Economics (MACIE) zwei Tafeln übergeben, die an das Werk und die Person Hensels erinnern. Hensel hatte mit seiner Berufung nach Marburg im Jahr 1957 die Forschungsstelle zum Vergleich wirtschaftlicher Lenkungssysteme nach Marburg gebracht, aus der das MACIE hervorgegangen ist.

Die Tafeln wurden unter der Anleitung von Prof. Dr. Christian Kleinschmidt von den Studenten Cornelius Hansen und Philipp Schulz angefertigt.

Die Person und die Lehre Hensels waren für seinen Schüler Dr. Michael Hagemann und dessen Ehefrau Doris Hagemann maßgebliche Triebfeder für die Gründung der Doris und Dr. Michael Hagemann-Stiftung vor zehn Jahren.

Stellvertretend für den Fachbereich Wirtschaftswissenschaften und das MACIE nahm Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Schulte die Tafeln in Erinnerung an Hensel entgegen. Die Tafeln schmücken nun den Seminarraum im Barfüßertor 2.

3.1) Workshop angewandte Mikroökonomik

Der von Prof. Dr. Tim Friehe organisierte Workshop in angewandter Mikroökonomik findet am 29. & 30. Juni 2018 statt.

3.2) MACIE-Talk 2018

In der Arbeitsgruppe Makroökonomik wird derzeit eine breit angelegte repräsentative Befragung durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse zu den Themen Asyl und Migration werden von Prof. Dr. Bernd Hayo voraussichtlich im Juni 2018 präsentiert.

4 Fortlaufende Aktivitäten

4.1) MACIE Lunches

Im vergangenen Jahr fanden etwa alle sechs Wochen Treffen der Gruppe statt, bei denen im informellen Rahmen gemeinsame Aktivitäten diskutiert und geplant wurden. Über die Inhalte der Treffen werden die Mitglieder laufend informiert.

4.5) MACIE Newsletter und Internetauftritt

Das MACIE gibt halbjährlich, jeweils zum Semesterstart, einen Newsletter heraus. In 2017 wurden die Newsletter am 25.04. und am 26.10. versandt. Derzeit empfangen den Newsletter 178 Personen. Die finanziellen und personellen Ressourcen hierfür stammen aus der Arbeitsgruppe der Institutionenökonomik. Im Jahr 2017 konnten 854 Besucher auf der Hauptseite des MACIE Internetauftritts verzeichnet werden.

Die Mitgliederversammlung fand am 21.12.2018 statt. Prof. Dr. Tim Friehe wurde als Ersatz für Prof. Dr. Evelyn Korn in das Direktorium gewählt. Dr. Hannes Rusch wurde als neues Mitglied kooptiert.
