BE A PART OF THIS MINISTRYWe invite you to explore the Dayspring family by attending our next NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION class on Sunday, February 20th, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a light lunch served. Souper Bowl Sunday is Feb. 6, 2011. In 2010, 14,000 groups in all 50 states generated over $10 million. All of the money from Dayspring will go to Phoenix Rescue Mission, our 2011 charity of choice. Please support the Sprouts in this effort to “love our neighbors” by dropping your dollar in the soup pot on Souper Bowl Sunday.

The Explorer’s Class concludes its series on “The Golden Rule Revisited” today with a discussion of Karen Armstrong’s “Contract for Compassion.” The series “Faces on Faith” will begin next week with an interview of Sister Joan Chittister. 9:00 a.m. in the Adult Room.

Contemporary Issues - The 10:30 Adult Contemporary Issues Class will discuss: “Do you accept the concept of karma, in the sense of cause and effect?” Isaac Newton, in his third law of motion, describes the principle that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. To what extent does the inexorable law of karma, that we reap what we have sown, apply to our conduct in this life, or other lives?

Brown Bag Lunch - Come join us for Brown Bag Lunch every Tuesday at 12:00 noon. Bring your own lunch and socialize with people from the church. We always have a good time! Come and be part of this fun group.

Singles at Dayspring -Singles, Etc. Lunches - Each Sunday after the second service, those who want to go out for lunch as a group meet at the restaurant listed below. If you attend first service, please join us! We gather around noon under the name “Dayspring”. Jan. 23 - Coco’s - SW corner of Elliot and Priest.

Tochimizolco - Dayspring’s annual Tochi Medical Trip is scheduled for April 26 - May 3. Medical and Dental personnel as well as interpreters and others willing to help out are invited to join us. If you are interested, please contact Larry Butler at [email protected] or Bev Engelsman at [email protected]

Habitat for Humanity - Dayspring is scheduled to help build a new house with the Mighty United Methodist Coalition on January 29 and February 19 this year. No construction experience is necessary. Please stop by our table on the patio or email [email protected] for more information.

Dayspring Preschool and Kindergarten - Registration runs Jan. 27th - Feb. 7th. You can pick up packets in the Preschool office beginning Jan. 27th. Registered Church members have priority. If you have questions, or would like to schedule a tour, please call the Preschool office at: (480) 838-9097. Also, we are offering a Parent/Tot class for children who are 24-36 months. This class meets Thursday mornings for 90 minutes with child and parent. Call for more information.

Koinonikos Schedule - The next deadline date for the newsletter is February 15, and will include events in the month of March.

Wednesday Evening Fellowship - Spring 2011February 9, 16, 23 and March 2

Mark your calendars now for Spring WEF! Dinner will be served starting at 5:30, with choir and classes following. Below is a brief description of the amazing classes that will be offered during this spring’s WEF.

Look for complete course information, schedule and registration information in the Koinonikos and in future church bulletins!

Invitation to Genesis - This short Disciple Bible study examines the rich tapestry of Genesis through exploration of the interactions between God and very human people. Led by Pastor George Smoot at 6:30 - 7:30 and 7:30 - 8:30 timeslots.

Does Jesus Save or Does Jesus Need Saving? - A study of the meaning of Jesus’ life and death for Christians today. Join a host of experts for a conversation about the relevance of Jesus for the 21st

century. Jane Baker will facilitate this class from 6:30 - 7:30.

Mission Miracles, Part 2 - Topics for spring WEF will include Dayspring’s involvement with missions in Mexico, Habitat for Humanity, UMOM, and the work that our youth do. Please join us for these very informative presentations led by a host of Dayspring and community leaders. Jim Baker will lead this series at both 6:30 and 7:30.
